I just learned from a good friend of mine that goes to AUC that their students are now receiving a stipend of 600 bucks to help with the exchange if they choose to go to England.
I wonder if SMU would consider doing this.
Honestly 600 bucks is a drop in the bucket if you go to england.

Wow, AUC must be having a hard time getting students to go over there. When SMU has an extremely hard time getting students to go over to the UK then and only then you may see something. Right now, it's not the case.
Don't some students already get free housing at one of the hospitals over there? That would save me >$4k a semester. Living in these big cities ain't cheap.

lol free housing ?!?!!? no such thing as free housing. Students do get some extremely affordable closets to live in. Its really cheap, but its very close to actually living in a closet.

With money as hard to come by as it is, I can't imagine SMU giving out anything for free.

no i think that it was when you pay your tuition in one shot, they will put your name in a pool of names and then at the end of first week of school, they would pull out ONE NAME and that one person will get an Oral B...

600/month is about 300 pounds per month. the cost of living is so high in london that 300/month is nothing.

300 pounds a month is 1/2 your rent if you live in a nice place. for 600 pounds a month you can get a decent one bedroom apt around ealing and whipps cross which are in london. So imagine what you can do with 300 pounds a month if you rotate in northern england, like at stepping hill or barnsley.
600 bucks a semester is nuttin, but 600 bucks a month is very significant.

how would you describe your apt. or the room you were staying in... was it comfrotable... smaller than you needed or just enough to get by...
i just want to see what you would get for 600$...

go to a london real estate website and put in the zones for whipps cross and ealing hospital. You will find decent one bedroom starting around 500 pounds, or a really nice one bedroom for 700 pounds. I'll cut your search in half heres a site that i found.
Property to rent in London W13, London - Find a Property (http://www.findaproperty.com/searchresults.aspx?edid=00&salerent=1&areaid=0164)
ealing is around W 13, whipps cross is around E 11

thats far west london. outskirts of the city. i believe there are more hospitals to go to then wc and e. better to get opinion of students that did 3rd yr there.
Ok, I am currently starting my first rotation at Whipps Cross University Hospital. Here is what I can tell you about housing....It is not as expensive as you think. I am renting a room (bed, TV, dressers, desk, couch) upstairs inside a flat. I share a kitchen and bathroom with one other girl. I pay 400 pounds/month and that includes all utilites. There are cheaper places than this. You just have to look around. When I first got here, I was living in a house with with a few other people and I was paying 300 pounds/month. These prices are cheaper than what I was paying in Cayman and Miami. Food is no more expensive than it was in Cayman. In fact, many food items are considerably cheaper than in the US. Transportation can get expensive if you ride the tube daily. There you have it..

Top 2 reasons to transfer to AUC:
Federal Loans
600 bucks a month in England
Top reason not to:
Don't wanna have the word "Transfer" to explain, and if you came to SMU from AUA, don't wanna explain double transfers/ 3 schools, says my study buddy.

However, part of your education was done at a non-cali approved school, so would you really be cali approved if you transferred since your education was not all done at a cali approved school? (This is rhetorical)

anything unit on your transcript from basics done at a non-cali school = cali license denial. even just one unit.

Fadem is awesome. met her last year in Dallas. she helped me play a practical joke on my buddy that involved 10 bags of confetti and an air horn. good times had by all.

Yeah, we were promised a 600 stipend, and then tuition was raised by about $1,500 per semester .......which is called giving with one hand and taking away with the other.

whichever way you flip it...10 months (or 11 w/ family practice) equals $6000/semester. And that, is substantial.
