View Full Version : Core rotation done in Far Rockaway, NY....
I did a core clinical in Surgery at Peninsula Hospital in NY. It is an AOA hosptial, not ACGME. How will this affect my licensing in California? PA? Illinois? Anyboday know, I think I screwed up. Thanks guys.
Was wondering if any of you have heard of problems being encountered in trying to get a California license because they did one of there core clinicals at Peninsula Hospital (non-acgme) but it is AOA as we all know. I hear California will honor this rotation. If so, is there a way around it. thanks guys.

Does Peninsula have an ACGME residency in Family? I can't seem to find one on the website.
If there is no Family medicine residency (MD) at Peninsula I'm pretty sure you wont get credit for it for California or PA
Peninsula does not have an ACGME Family Practice program. Is there any way around this, that you know about. I messed up and did a core rotation there.

The only way around it is to repeat surgery.
Although I think in Texas, once you are board-certified they don't care about clinicals.
But in California and PA and other strict states, you'll probably have to repeat the rotation at a ACGME site.

Looks like you may be repeating surgery. You would think that Ross would be legally bound to inform you if they are offering you a non-green site.
Apparently they're not concerned about jeopardizing your ability to be licensed in some states.
Peninsula Hospital is an affiliate of the NSLIJHS Program. Though, of NSLIJHS's affiliates, it seems like only North Shore University Hospital, Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Westchester Medical Center, and Staten Island University Hospital are ACGME accredited. Where exactly are you looking to practice?
Looking to practice in CA... So if Peninsula is affilitated with NSLIJHS's , and NSLIJHS is affiliated with ACGME hospitals will this be sufficient in your opinion to be credited in CA??
Wow, I cant believe that I may have to repeat Surgery, I wasnt even informed.

I worked for the NSLIJHS before med school. I believe the hospitals have a loose affiliation with each other but operate independently when it comes to acgme. Ex Long Island Jewish Medical Center is affiliated with Albert Einstein while North Shore Manhasset is affiliated with another medical school. Check here for the best answer: ACGME Accredited Program and Institutional Listing - Public Access (http://www.acgme.org/adspublic/)
pvb, just talk to your clinical advisor and look into the CA rules and regulations with respect to core rotations. G'luck.
Thank for the feedback...
