why does the school make us take kaplan first then take 7 weeks of the ICM class. We take the kaplan then have 7 weeks of doing other things. Wouldnt it be better to take kaplan the last 7 weeks of the semester then have 4-6 weeks of nothing but prep on your own then take the exam. Instead of having to break up your study time with the ICM class where you cant focus 100% of step 1 which is the most important test we will ever take. Also, is the ICM class really needed?

It really sucks for you guys because the last Miami class had a really easy time in ICM and CT. I even heard that answers were given to them before their exams. ICM in Cayman last semester was a real waste, just nothing but busy work. Dr. T and Dr. L were the course directors for ICM in Cayman, and it was worst-run course I have ever taken, even worse than embryo (ala Dr. P who is now fired). There was no communication between the two, no communication to us, and tests were completely different from what were told. But I hope they fix that for you guys.
But CT, on the other hand, was really worthwhile. I still remember which drugs to use and when because of that class. A lot board-relevant information can be gained from that class, so I suggest using CT to your advantage.

At first I thought that you were capping on Embryo's Dr. G., because Dr. G is awesome in Embryo and Gross Anatomy, so I'm glad you clarified yourself by mentioning the previous Professor.
As far as ICM and Pt-Dr is concerned...... I think we can all agree this part of the curriculum needs A LOT of work.

its a double edge sword. I see your point but wouldnt you wanna take kaplan as earliest as possible so that you could take ur step as soon as possible.
ICM and CT does not take alot of work. The best part of ICM are the clinical shadowing hours. It'll be good if you impress your doctor with the knowledge you reinforced during kaplan.
Alot of students decided to take a semester off before taking kaplan in order to brush up on the material but i really think this is the wrong approach. Kaplan was great in going over and reviewing things like if it was your 1st time seeing the material.
taking kaplan 1st, then giving u extra time to study on your is better than taking icm 1st then taking kaplan during the 2nd 1/2 of the semester.

yeah, i guess but i just want to be able to put 100% into step 1 and not have to worry about some stupid ICM course. If they made PD better then maybe we wouldnt need ICM, instead PD is a gigantic waste of time so far. make PD a little more intense and give us all of 5th to focus on step 1 alone. Even if ICM takes 5 hours a day thats 5 hours lost from conncentrating on the most important test of our lives. I wonder if we could bring something like this up to the admin, and wonder if they would be receptive to some type of change.
