Hi!
Does anybody who's at Brooklyn Hospital right now know whether Karine is in? I've been calling her for a few days now at all different times and it always goes to voicemail. Tried emailing, but no response.
Thanks

just saw her in her office 30 min ago...if you're in the area or hospital it's easier to just drop by.

Thanks!
Not in the area. At this point I wish I was. Just called her again and she's not picking up, left another message.

Shes a very nice lady but very hard to get a hold of, especially this time of the year. Keep trying...I mean A LOT. Don't leave a voicemail everytime but keep calling and eventually you should get a hold of her. Also make sure you know what you want to do because when you get a hold of her, you wont know when you will again.

thats ridiculous...and unfortunately not uncommon.
I would say that that is a point that needs to be re-evaluated and remedied....the quality of the med ed coordinators at some hospitals...some of those people have been in their jobs forever and feel no fear of termination....and just do nothing (or make you feel that you are imposiong on them to get them to do their job).
the woman at st michaels is horrendous...she doesn't return emails, its NEVER in her office and acts as if med ed is her own private domain...I mean she doesn't even have anything on computer! All the rotations are in a big ledger! I tried to get a med sub-i scheduled there from April-August and NEVER got anything, even after I told her, give me the 1st available 4 weeks and I wiill schedule everything around it!
the woman at st barnabas is also equally worthless...Never answers her phone, nor responds to her email and took over 6 months to schedule a 4 week elective and even then she couldn't get the dates right (scheduled me in April for an elective I requested for Dec and then didn't bother to tell me about it!)
now don't get me wrong..there are really efficient med ed offices....St. joesphs in paterson, Newark Beth Israel in Newark, Elmhirst/Queens, and SoundShore in Westchester were all VERY helpful and quick to respond - if you are picking places...these are great ones to deal with and many of the rotations are great learning experiences...

Add the newly affiliated Cleveland Clinic Florida to the list....even my clinical coordinator couldn't get a hold of the lady for a month until told her to give up (I had tried with a total of over 40 phone calls/voicemails/emails over 3 months) because I had found another rotation...
