Hello,

Aside from bedsize and price, what is the difference between a standard single and a standard suite single?

Thanks

i personally got a queen bed and im in a standard single, where as some people got full beds......the bathrooms are the same size and the sink area is the same side....the diffrence is just the size. if you get a standard suite, you will probably get like 2 desks and 2 dressers....and the room overall is a little bigger....personally for me you get your own room, why does i have to be huge and the price diffrence is like 1000 USD....that money can go a long way in the caymans

Hello,

The price difference is 865,00$ and it is 25% bigger than the regular single room.
You also have two wardrobes, dressers, etc. This is an option if you like/need more space.

Email me if you need more information,

I'm in a single standard and have a queen, 1 wardrobe, 1 desk, dresser, and nightstand. Works for me coz all I do is study. I went into a suite once and it was double everything and what looked like a king size bed- I could be wrong. I think he had 2 fridges as well. Basically more space.

Do any of suites have individual kitchens, or does everyone use the community kitchens?

No, there's only one communal kitchen outside with 4 ovens/ stoves. No cooking is allowed in rooms.

at the RH there is one communal kitchen. At the residence suites, those are apts, therefore each apt has its own kitchen

Hi Sebastien,

I have a few questions about housing at SMU.

1. Do we have to reapply for housing each semester or each year? When I move out in December, do I move out completely, and get assigned another room in January?

2. Is a suite in the RH the apt-like rooms?

And to add to the questions..When will we know our room number assignment??

I am still trying to figure that one out too. They said that rooms will be assigned in August so I hope that helps.

I do hope Sebastien comes back and answers, if not email him as he is very helpful. When I was on the island (before the school had two housing facilities) we were only allowed to stay in the Residence Hall one semester. If there was room then we could re-apply but that was never the case due to large class sizes. Therefore I would be prepared to look for housing during your time there.

Hello All,

I do not assign rooms for the new semester, the admission office does in Oviedo. Matthew M is in charge of that along with Adriana M.
Check your smu online account or email them.
If you need more info, please email me

Thank you,
