Question for MitchDC or anyone with an answer [Archive]

Hi, I know this was already asked, but I couldn't find it to read. Anyways, how long does it take for the student loan checks to be disbursed? And will the landlords generally wait and take your word, or do we have to pay the first month ot of pocket. I'll arrive on Monday and I'm a bit nervous. :oops:

TinkerBell, if you have submitted your financial aid application and loan applications on time (several months ago) then you will probably receive your refund check soon after you register. In fact, at registration you will meet with a finanacial aid officer who will let you know your status. Under no circumstances can you get your check before your register. If you just submitted your paperwork recently, you won't get your check for a while. Have your loan been approved (the loan company notifies you by mail)?

While the landlords can be expected to wait one day while you get your bank account setup, I really wouldn't expect them to wait until you get your financial aid refund check. If your check will be a while, you can ask the University for an advance on approved loan funds that just haven't arrived yet. Anyways, bring some money with you, if possible. If not, go right to the financial aid office and see how they can help.
