I see that Manipal University provides laptops for every incoming student. I would like to know if it is highly recommended to purchase your own. Thanks

Some students bring their own. A lot of students simply use the ones KMCIC gives during the Orientation. Depends on personal preference.

What are the specs of the systems being provided by the University? :D
Thanks.

Now they provide thinkpad r60 series laptops. Low-mid range specs.

That sounds about right.

That said I still recommend that you bring your own and refuse the one they "provide you." It takes some work, but you can get your money back for the built in charge for the laptops. But if you don't want the hassle, the ThinkPads are solid machines.
I also do recommend bringing certain USMLE prep aids from the states. I can get into specifics if anyone is interested.
