Does it look better or worse when you apply to other schools as well? Applying only to SABA shows how much they are a priority of yours however, applying to multiple schools that may accept me may also make me seem like a catch. Do med schools in the caribbean know what other schools applicants apply to and/or get offers at?

you are asked what other schools you've applied to in the application forms, i dont think they mind an applicant applying to other schools

They know Carribbean schools are a last resort to North American Schools.

I listed ALOT of N.A. schools on the application. I wasn't questioned about them.

You should definitely list other Caribbean schools on the application. If you don't, they will accept you at their convenience, since they know you have no other choice. It's good to keep a little pressure on them by letting them know you have other options.

I listed other caribbean schools and mentioned in my SGU interview that i had been accepted into another school. I think they expect you to try everywhere, they are more likely to question you if you don't apply elsewhere (cuz you may seem either overconfident or out of choices).

Yes, i agree. I only applied to saba (for a few reasons) and they were interviewing people that probably applied 3-4 months after me for the sept. 08 class, while I was told that I was on the waitlist for september. They knew that I wouldn't get into a NA school until sept 09, so it was probably easy to shrug me off for 4 months.

From their perspective, if they have 1 spot and two students left... One student is accepted at saba and ross, while the other student was only accepted at saba. If they tell the first student to wait for months, he'd say "no dice, i'm going to ross", while student two would say "oh f***, 4 more months of waiting"....

On the other hand, I could have just been a really crappy applicant that barely made it in :) .

Nah, I don't think it was your app. I think they saw that pic of u in Africa with the tan lines and were horrorfied! lol
I never even thought of the adding more schools to my list! i know i won't apply to them but i will put all the top three on my app when I apply for May 09...

I specifically put on my application that Saba was the only school I had applied to so far after much research, and was my number one choice. Was immediately accepted.

Well...some students are just too good to not accept right away, now aren't they?

They never filled up the semesters when you were getting accepted, so I think that's something to consider as well.

For the first time ever, Saba is getting overflow in their semesters. I guess that's good news!

Whomever told you that things did not fill in 2005 may have been mistaken. I personally know individuals who were wait listed for my class. 5:1 was the ratio of applicants to seats then as it is now.

It may be true that previous semesters before my time did not fill, I don't know about that though because I was not there.

wow! I was way off then... I thought that May was the least popular, and that the classes were only starting to fill up this year...

If there's any one person whom I'd take advice/facts from, it's you. Thanks for the info
