Which (if not all) LORs should I submit with my application?

1. Committee letter, even though they know nothing about me personally
2. Chem professors with whom I took one class each (I took both CHems at the same time this past spring). I got As and Ive been asked to tutor in the fall by the Chem dept.
3. Project Manager at IBM where I did consulting for 3 years, she knows me very well although not in a clinical setting
4. Physician I will shadow for a few weeks, she's also my neighbor for past couple of years

I don't have any other clinical research or volunteer experience.

They want academic refferees, specifically profesors I believe.

1. no
2. If you knew the profs at all, then of course! If not, then you should have planned this in advanced. You want to get to know certain profs because they can make or break an applicant (not so much for carrib schools that tend to focus more on GPA). If the prof only put your name down because you got a top mark, then don't bother. They dont need a prof saying "um... I think I saw the kid once.... he got an A+ in my class, so he must be smart i guess". They can see your transcript,so get a prof that knows you, not a prof that you got the best mark in.
3. no
4. I would say yes, they'd get to see your personality a lot, and they're a physician....

I am getting a letter from my org chem prof. i had the 2nd highest grade in the class but that is not the reason he'll remember me. ;) he would constantly call me by the wronge name, that of the other light haired white guy in the class, every week! even twice while we were talking in his office after being reminded again. hes not even senile. lol we made a deal though, the next time he does it i get to slap him up side the head ;) his idea not mine lol

the #3 option of project manager that knows you is great one to send. It doesn't need to be medical related.

It can be employer who can vouch for your characteristics (work ethics, etc...)

Fortunately, Saba isn't stringent on limiting the number of letters of support. And the have nothing better to do with their time than to read them all. So if you have a 100 excellent professional letters, it works more in your favor.

If they are all good letters, send them all. Case closed.

i can neither confirm nor deny that recommendations from either Maverick or Iceman will cement you deep in the heart of Saba lore......and possibly get you in and/or increase your bench press by at least 35%

KINGMO, on second thought, I agree with you. I provided lots of additional things on my application, and I don't think it hurts. I added a page showing my research background, etc. I think it helped.

and 'iceman', haha i gotta ask.... How much can you bench exactly (1 rep max)? I'm new to benching, not weight lifting, and have realized it's often the 'benchmark' of achievement in weight lifting (pun intended!).

He can lift some serious weight...I wouldn't mess with him.

I can only do a 300 1 rep max, but I haven't tried in a while and I don't bench much, i'm not a big fan.

#1 u can lift more than me

#2 im glad i have subverted yet another useless thread with answers found in previous threads if only users had learned to utilize the exalted "search" function. this is the true crime admins must crack down on, for i am a necessary evil much like the gestapo or the many agents in the matrix; i crack down on public herb-ery

1. I pulled my rotator cuff about a month ago (havent worked out since), so unfortunately it's going to be a while before i try again.

2. I agree with you, what do you think of my FAQ idea? I think that it would get rid of all the redundancy in the forums.

I don't think it would get rid of the redundancy. I think a lot of people want more than just information, they want validation and interaction with a real person.
Man, that sounds saccharine. :p

Well I think it would help with some of it, but I know what you mean. There are still, way too many really stupid questions that get asked, and there are so many different answers to the same question.

I think the soo many different answers is the main reason people ask more than once... there is a ton of misinformation being posted as fact and confusing people... or the info could be out of date. Not to mention not everybody has the time or patience to read through alllllll the threads and don't know how to use the search. (you would be shocked t how computer illiterate some smart people can be)
