I wouldn't have though so - from what I have heard, the exam tests you on the equivilent of British A level Biology, which is even more advanced that Irish Leaving Cert. Biology. I don't know about any other people, but it took me the full 2 years to become fully (some would say semi) competent in the field of Biology.

Maybe a stupid question, but why have you decided to spend 5 years studying dentistry when you obviously haven't got a great interest in biology and don't even know if you'll even enjoy studying the subject.
9 days!! I think it's actually possible for you to just scrape it as from what I've heard, the entrance exam is more AS level then A2, but you'll need to study your **** off.
I have no idea what resources you have, but if you only have very basic knowledge you won't get away with just a revision guide I wouldn't have thought.
"Advanced Biology" on amazon is an excellant book, which will cover everything you'll need to know. It's not cheap though, but worth every penny. If you're serious and know how to study right, you can get a lot done in over a week, but scraping by is probably the best you can hope for.
Another question. Why on earth did Charles allow you take the entrance exam when you haven't studied Biology? Seems very worrying if you ask me and not all to encouraging as a prospective student.
Good luck anyway. I hope your Chemistry and Physics are in better shape as they would be much tougher to blag.

yes no bother in Physics and chem because i've done 1st year Engineering. Its only biology i didn't pick it cuz i thought 2 science subjects will do!
I going to take exam in Sweden. A rep of charles in sweden told me if u pass the exam he'll do something to get me in even if i haven't done biology..
I don't know how true is that but im going to call him and ask him again!

I guess you're paying more as you're applying through some sort of an agency? Agencies usually have certain deals with the universities to get the students in but let me tell you one thing...you better revise all of your biology before school starts because subjects like anatomy, histology, cell biology, genetics, and embryology will be very HARD!!!.
By having a decent base in biology, cell biology, and genetics will be easier but neverthless anatomy and histo. are quite hard and extensive. I don't mean to scare you away but I'm just telling you in advance because this university has very high attrition rates and staying in is the hardest part (as tons and tons of students fail).
If you rep. says that you'll be fine even if you didn't take the subject, then you're lucky (as some of us had to study all the three subjects although one can choose between physics and math). But do think about the long run, and try to prioritize your time in finishing biology. Normally, if it's people with a basic level of life-style backgound don't really need to study in the summer before entering med school...but those who don't really have to at least get acquainted with the subject....and besides you'll only figure out your interest in dentistry, once you start from the basic level of it.
Good luck!!!

I can tell you from personal experience that a good background in Biology is definalety a must - I suppose this being the reason why Biology (full A level) is now a pre req. for UK medical schools.
Is it possible in theory to pass the exam knowing no Biology at all? It does strike me as very odd that any medical school, 6 year or otherwise, would allow a student entry into the first year with no "advanced" Biology? - I can safely say that I would have just failed my first year without my knowledge from A level.

True not liking biology doesn't mean one will not like medical school. Biology is a much more generalized subject where one studies about almost everything with life. Medical school on the other hand is completely different. One can however say that biology does sort of inculcate an interest in medicine for some students (like me) but for many, it doesn't probably because they only liked certain topics (relating to the human body and diseases) and disliked the others (like the different kingdom classifications and plant science and stuff).
Nevertheless like Chemist_11 mentioned, it's a must to be acquainted with the subject so that it provides a nicer transition to med school. And I'm quite surprised that Charles First Faculty of all the other faculties is allowing students not to enter without having pre-requisite knowledge in Biology.
