Hey guys,
I am about to take my step 1 and i am startign to realize that i have no idea how rotations work at AUA. Do we have to constantly move from city to city for the next 2 years and wait around for spots to open??? How do you find places to live if the roations are only 12 weeks? When do they start?
Are there any open spots for Aug-Sept?
:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
Any info would be great!!!
Thanks!

Aren't there advisors that should help you with this sort of thing? I am about to attend AUA this fall ... and I would hope the advisors would shed some light on these things and not have students worrying about rotations since we will be concerned with studying the material

don't worry about any of that. Step 1 is most important.

Depends on whether you wan't greenbook rotations. If so, then NYC is the only place where you won't have to move from. You can stay there for 2 years.

There's plenty of open spots. However, the minute you get your Step 1 score back, you need to schedule Peds at Wyckoff. It is the only Green rotation we have outside Puerto Rico, that I know of.

what do you mean peds at wyckoff is the only green rotation you have? the only one in peds or in general!?
does anyone know the exact number of clinical spots available and the number of students rotating currently?
Also, how come you guys claim to have all these hospitals in Long Island that noone else has... im guessing these aren't green book spots?
But even tho Sree, you said its possible to stay in NY the whole time... and complete everything green book? but i thought pysch was not green in NY for anyone but SGU??

assuming they haven't added any hospitals that are not listed on the AUA clinical website, there are only two hospitals we have with green pediatrics programs - Wyckoff and San Juan City Hospital. acgme.org/adspublic for details. My signature explains how to look up whether a rotation is Green.

I don't think anyone has released that information. Remember that not everyone wants Greenbook rotations and those people who don't care are not competing for the same spots that you are.

Check them using acgme.org/adspublic.

We have two green psych sites in NY - St . John's Episcopal (due to Downstate and Creedmore) and the VA Hospital (through Downstate, I think but not too sure). You need to figure out how to check the greenbook status of a rotation.

"Veterans Affairs Medical Center (Brooklyn)" is the acgme.org listing.
If you choose this rotation, make sure that this is in fact the place where they are sending you.

THANK YOU Sree!
I did not see that on the list.
Good to know it is greenbook, too! :shake:
Also, has anyone completed a rotation here? How was it?
Or do you recommend the D.C. hospital instead (despite the waiting list)?

everyone loves this place because they offer free housing.
i did my rotation at st. john's episcopal which was fine too, short hours (i was out by noon/12:30 daily), you'll probably learn more at the VA though
