I know! How bad is that!
Soon as the site is launched, all database servers on the host crash (all sites)!
Some heads are going to roll at MediaTemple...
Anyway, I've posted an urgent support ticket to fix it.
Please check it out shortly! It's worth it...

Obviously this is a new site so it doesn't have much on it... can we post 'want ads' or is it just a place to sell. I see that you have places for selling vehicles and bikes, both of which I need, but no one has posted anything yet. If I'm allowed to post a want ad for both maybe that'll generate more traffic/use. What say ye?

Yes, the site is brand new, so it's completely empty.
A wanted section is a good idea. I will add a "Wanted" category right now.
There will probably be some bugs and glitches along the way, but I hope to iron out the kinks and make changes as the site gains traffic.
Please let me know of any problems or suggestions.

They're certainly quick at fixing problems! I'll give them that!
The site shouldn't experience that problem again...
"We apologize for the minor disruption to your service's database availability. Our Engineers identified the cause of the problem right away and were able to correct the issue. The nature of the problem was determined to be an internal system configuration setting on our side. It was not anticipated that this setting would cause any problems, nor was it our intention for it to degrade the quality of your service in any way. It appears that the total period of unavailability was approximately 10-25 minutes. We do not expect this problem to return in the future."

Thanks for adding the Wanted section. I registered and went to place a wanted ad and 'Step 2' asked me to 'Select a Package' but 'Sorry, no packages have been defined' so I could go no further. Let me know when that bug has been fixed. This looks to be a very promising website. Cheers...

Should be fixed, forgot to attach listing packages to the new category. Thanks for letting me know about that...
Thanks for the kind words as well :-)

ok I am sorry but seems that site is a joke. You are selling a $580k car on there. Is that a joke?
^ I seriously choked on my water.

It's a bit harsh to call the entire site a joke based on 1 listing, don't you think? :-/
Of course the car listing is a joke, I posted it as a test, to make sure the system works. Can you imagine a McLaren SLR on Dominica? haha. Maybe one day...

I think it sounds like a great idea...but the prices are a bit off..
the HP dv9700t laptop is being sold for $2100US when it can be purchased in the US for 950-1250, so that's quite a price hike...
the Logitech Z 5500 Speakers are running for $220 from Dell and they are being sold for $500, so the prices are very very inflated

Anyone is free to create their own listings and set their own prices.
The items currently listed that you mentioned (the laptop and speakers) were listed by a user, and the user set the price.
As a visitor, you are free to negotiate or communicate with the seller. Ross Classifieds does not set the prices of the items, rather, we simply list the items.
And actually, that specific configuration for that laptop is retailed at around $1,800. Add the Dominica costs of electronics customs taxes, shipping, and convenience; it's not too far off :-)
Same with the speakers. They weight about 60lbs, which is expensive to ship to Dominica, in addition to the electronics customs tax.
But like I said, it's up to the seller to set the price, and it's up to the buyer to contact and make the deal with the seller. At this time, we just list the items...
I hope this makes things clear. Let me know if you have any questions :-)

The price for that laptop is way to high.......and if the laptop is on your person when you came into the airport.......I'm sure there was not tax payed

I'm not sure you see the purpose of the site.
It is a classifieds site. As mentioned in my previous post, each user sets his/her own prices. We do not set the prices.
I can set a pack of gum to $900, will anyone buy it? No.
But we're there to list any stuff at any price.
If it doesn't sell, then the seller probably set the price too high. Their loss.
FYI, not that it's relevant, but that laptop configuration after tax is $1,990.00.
If you have it on your person in Dominica (without getting taxed), and you sell it for $2,100.00, you're making about $100 profit...I don't see how it's way overpriced...

the car is listed by Administrator. This is not just any student trying to plan a joke.

I completely understand what the purpose of the site is......as I understand what the purpose of forums.....I chose to voice my opinion on the price of that laptop.......read my post again.......and 2k is way too much for an HP even if you have a core 2 duo 4 cache in it
