Hello, I've been granted an interview by the Dean of Admissions. I'm curious if anyone knows how I can prepare for this interview, and what kinds of questions will they ask? Thanks.

its a very laid back interview they will ask you about why you want to be a doc etc. Ask about anything bad in your academic history some personal and a ethical question or two just be honest and relaxed. Just remember at SMU we pretty much take everyone, its up to you to do the work and stay in once you get here but getting in is the easy part

I was asked 3 ethics type questions, one of which I remember:
If I was the head of a tri-state regional facility that had 3 main services including geriatric care, pediatric oncology, and a diabetes specialty, but funding shortages forced me to drop one, which would I drop and why? I think they're only looking to see if you can formulate a thought and articulate it well enough to carry a conversation.
Other than that, the interviewer asked if I was ready to make it through med school, blah blah blah, and at the end of the interview I was told I was accepted.

im from orlando so i was able to have my interview in person. i would recommend it if possible, but the interview is easy. they ask you a bunch of questions, this big thing aside from the ethical questions they will ask you about the school. being in adiffrent country they want to make sure that you are ready to be away from friends and family, and it is tough at times t oget in contact with them... if you are ok with that, then yoiu should be fine

Can it really be that hard to get in contact with family sometimes...even with email and Skype?

It's not hard to contact family. I use email and AIM predominantly, telephone on special occasions but it is expensive to call the states. If you feel the need to constantly be on the phone with your family you might have some separation anxiety issues to work through. You are here to study, not chat with family!

I have Vonage. Costs me $25 a month and my wifes mom is able to call 100 times a day from the states with no problem at all ;)

Or just tell them that you'll get the whole basic science tuition in with one check ....
