Well I was reading the SGU website and found that there was TONS of detailed stats, that I found encouraging to the school. All of the stats that I get from Saba are given here and there, and don't seem to have a specific location. I read on the application package that it accepts 75 out of 450 applicants. This 1/6 acceptance rate seems a bit more competitive than I had thought. I figured maybe it means that if you put 3 semesters on your application, that means you applied 3 times? Therefore 75/150?

It seems that upon reading this site, sooooo many people get accepted with very few rejections. Also, when they put you on hold it claims over 90% match rates for the last few years, which I also find very difficult to believe because the average US school is only around 93. This would put Saba at a slightly lower than average US school, when in reality, I would expect only a handful (if that) would have lower match rates.

Is anyone else concerned by this? I know that it's probably not far off, but it often seems to good to be true. I mean, if they're matching at 90-91% every year, why even go to the US? lol. Let me know what you guys think.

Saba has never been particularly keen on giving out accurate information.

Regarding stats, either they have complete idiots putting this information out and thus doesn't add up. Or better yet, there is some statistical GENIUS who sits behind the desk and comes up with the most ridiculous stats, that when analyzed and explained are statistically logical and stastically make perfect sense, yet doesn't offer a shred of usefulness in helping us figure practical things out.

Well I mean I don't think that they're exagorated that badly. I am sure that the attrition rate is higher than 5% total (close to 15% I'd presume) and I think the match rate would be around 85-90, as opposed to above 90. SGU has only been at 90, and they're a bit tougher to get into, aren't they?

Yes, SGU is more difficult to get into.
Are you talking about match rates or Step 1 first time pass rates?

sorry, i always get them confused because the numbers are so similar
.... the 90% was the USMLE pass rate for SGU... The res match that was I quoted on the phone was over 90..... I find it hard to believe though.
