Has anybody heard of the Stafford Loans being pulled from the Hungarian Schools? I ask because I was just on Stafford.com and when I pulled up the screen for "apply online" non of the Hungarian schools came up. There were some czech schools though.

hahaha..wellll....stafford loans as far as i know are not being accepted by my school anymore...i was told i had to get private loan to start then could get them in my second year and now that i'm almost done with my first year and they said they no longer accept stafford only private loans from new students..just the remaining students of 5th and 6th year are allowed stafford b/c they started out with them. Not trying to scare anyone but this is what i was told last week by the financial aid office.

semmelweis is ok. i've stayed in contact with the f.a. rep there. both the stafford and the grad plus is offered to u.s. students.

i asked her that question and her reply was, "$20500 (stafford loan) and no limit (grad plus). i asked her about the cost of attendance but apparently she hasnt a clue.

Could somebody tell which bank did they use for the Stafford Loans while studying in Hungary?

My understanding of the loan process is as follows:

1) Go to the FAFSA website and register for financial aid.

2) Choose an online bank and print a promissory note.

3) Complete promissory note and have school official sign and stamp note.

4) Send note to lender.

5) Sit back and wait for check to be sent to school.

My main concern is where to get a copy of the promissory note, because when I have asked several banks in the past months they all have appeared to be clueless on aid for foreign schools.

i use boa, and i print out a promissory note from their website. fill it out and give it to the financial aid rep for certification during registration. she also sends it to the lender for processing. in approx. 2-3 weeks i receive my check. pretty straight forward.

yeah, each school suppose to have a limit, with dollar value and euro's these days, I think each person needs a bit more than 20500. something close to 25000$ to 30000$ a year is more like reality.... 12500 for tution+ about 8000 for rent+ living expences and other stuff...
