Now we can call out our attendings as fakes. It is a good thing he did not hurt anyone in his delusion.

What kind of delusion would you classify it as?

A delusion of grandeur....when an individual exaggerates their sense of self-importance and is convinced that he or she has a special power, talent, or ability.

I have a friend who graduated from AUC in 2006 who got his degree in mechanical engineering, went on to become a pilot...flew 737's for United, got laid off after 9/11, decided to go to med school. He is staring anesthesia 7/1.

Is this the same friend who you said started A surgery residency and went back to flying jets.

I knew a surgical resident from AUC at St. Agnes who was a pilot prior to AUC and hated surgical residency (last I talked to him). He said he was planning to leave surgery the next year, go back to being a pilot, and just work in an urgent care center for some extra money. He could have just been having a bad day though.

Same guy I'm talking about. He is leaving United. He starts Anesthesia in July. G

I guess he will have to be careful and not say something like "we are loosing cabin pressure" during surgery.

or "bring me the crash cart" when he is on the airplane.

He plans (at least for now) to do both when he is done. United gave him a 3 year leave of absence for residency. G

Hahaha thanks everyone, I was hoping someone would make the connection. I just let a raunchy Lal's bomb in the library, I'd advise not to go there for a few hours

Ah....didn't recognize the new fancy orange color...forgot you're at St. Agnes. ;)

So he left St. Agnes surgery, went back to being a pilot, and now is going back for anesthesiology? I talked to him within the last year or two...he already made it back to United and then back to medicine?

I know. He has lead an interesting life. United took him back quickly. He really likes anesthesia, so decided he would apply to anesthesia programs. Of course, flying for free helps a lot with the interview process. He got 2 pre-match offers and took one of them. So, back to residency in a month....
