I was just wondering how big SMU's class sizes are per semester???

Are they huge, in addition how is the University is it well maintained? Do they have nice classrooms..

Any info would be great.

classrooms are converted office spaces. We have lousy chairs but we do have TVs and enough blank screens for projectors so that every student that wants to listen to lecture could.

250 in fall, 150 in winter, around 80 during summer

My class last Fall was 240. The lecture halls are big enough to accommodate. The school is well-maintained, it doesn't look run-down or anything. It consists of two 3-story buildings so don't expect a sprawling college campus like you are used to. It's good enough to get the job done.

Just to add: classrooms have a/c (believe me I didn't realize how important that was 'til one morning it didn't work), and lectures are on power-point with microphones and speakers. All lectures are recorded on audio and video for you to re-listen or watch if you wish. Wireless internet available. The chairs.....uhhhh... are like the little desks in grade-school with the chair glued to the desk. You'd get used to it. No stadium seating.

Yeah that pretty much covers it, you won't be in pain but you won't feel like you're in a 5 star hotel. Just enough to get your education.

No such Cannoli I was the second student admitted. So that dispells your theory of specialness. ;)

Umm.......are you forgetting what the LH1 felt like in the beginning of first semester?????for some reason, just having stadium seating would make things so much more similar to US campuses.

I definitely do remember. Unless you're claustrophobic it wasn't a problem. My problem was with people who couldn't show up on time so they had to rummage around for a seat. Remember that chick who had everything wrapped in plastic? Haha! I think you were one of those late-comers too, so don't give me any attitude! People have gotten a little better at being in class on time since those days.

Nobody knows until they show up in the Fall. My uneducated guess would be 200.

Oh it's way too early to tell coz pple are still weighing their options with US schools wait- listing and other Carib schools as well. I know I didn't make a final decision to come here 'til like July, and some even wait 'til August. Then there's also transfers from other Carib schools that may not apply 'til later on. So if you wanna move to TI better book early!

It most certainly was the luggage lady! I think she was a transfer student. She would constantly come to anatomy class 15 minutes late, dripping sweat from riding her bike. She would find the most inaccessible open seat and drag her suitcase and purse through the sea of people. She would then proceed to unwrap her laptop from six layers of plastic which was obscenely loud. Then she would start asking people to plug in her computer or put her microphone on their desk for her. She would hold her computer up during class so that she could capture the lecture on video even if there were people behind her. It was a mess. I wouldn't have a problem with most of the stuff she did if she got to class early and got set up. I haven't seen her since.

Just do what you need to do to make sure you are not one of them.

I miss her! She was so funny. She brought a comic relief to the class. I still wonder what was in all those bags. It was like 3 bags everyday, one wheeled carry-on, a back pack, and one slung over her shoulder. For one little class. Then after class she'd pile 'em all up on her bike in the afternoon and peddle wearing a skirt and low heels in the hot sun. And on that bike she'd get home faster than pple in a car.

I don't miss her. She was disrupting my medical education.
