Hi,

I already posted this in the other thread about tuition but I thought I would also put it here so more people might see it.

Does anyone know how the financial aid/loan situation is right now for the clinicals? I've been reading other posts about what a mess it is at the present time for folks in Antigua.

Quick recap: Supposedly they are having a problem getting lenders, and losing lenders, because they're going out of business. Students even with good credit are having a lot of trouble with being approved with or without co-signors, and then getting denied because the applications and credit checks are affecting their credit scores very negatively. The current lender apparently is charging a very high interest rate and origination fee. At least so far this is how I understand the situation to be.

I'm sure you've all heard and and read about this issue, but I was wondering if the same thing is happening to people doing rotations now, because it seems for now that the most vocal complaints are primarily from people in Antigua.

Thanks!

As far as I know, there is no different lender for students in clinicals...as of now school has one lender which you might have already experienced their pros n cons in other thread....so if a student who depends on a financial aid ( basic science or clinicals ) has to go through this lender....unless they have preference to AUA private loan...which can be confirmed by students doing their clinicals....also one should not forget that atleast AUA has one potential lender compare to other carribean med schools in same tier who has none and students are forced to go home for this semester atleast....

I am in AUA clinicals in NY. Me and my friends are going through the same financial aid problems. We are worried we won't get our next scheduled clinical rotation because we haven't paid tuition (nor do I have money for living expenses). I always use a cosigner and I have never had a problem being approved before, but they have disapproved my application with two different cosigners now. Not exactly sure what to do?
