Alright so my parents want me to go to Windsor because it costs less and you finish faster. Thats basically their logic behind it. I did alot of research and i have talked to alot of people who have gone there and they say that its a crap school. I want to know whether im better off going there or doing undergrad at a canadian university (im a grade 12 student from canada) and then doing med school somewhere afterwards. Also, i read that its hard to get residency if u graduate from windsor. is that true? will people look at me differently if they know i graduated from windsor? the bottom line is that im trying to weigh the pros and cons to going there or not. any suggestions?

Hey Greething from B.C
I suggest you to do an undergrad first in Canada and try to go to a medical in Canada first.

do your research before you post what "you heard"...being a crap school can apply to anywhere, be it the Caribbean, Europe, India, etc....you make what you want of that "*" logic...this is a school in the Caribbean and not in some large urban setting. If you cant adapt to change, then this school and career path isnt for you or anyone else...
About residency, once again, do your searching...people from this school HAVE got residency and HAVE got license to practice in different states...there is a list on this site of Windsor grads...
This school may not be the one for you, and it might not have been the one for those that said it was *bad*...usually those are the same ones that also opted do other things instead of studying/coming to class and then failing...they gotta blame others for their own mistakes....

Dude...every school out here is nothing compared to US/Canadian Med schools. No matter who started it, how long it's been around and what they charge. Even the forums on this site are heavily patrolled by marketing officials from some schools saying this and that unprovable fact. Can you say "SPIN ZONE."
Most students come to to Caribbean Medical Schools because they can't get into a US/Canadian Medical school. Some come for other reasons but that is the main one. Now every Caribbean Medical School will tell you that they have a high USMLE passing rate and all their students got the best residencies. But, the fact is that most of the numbers are hard to validate or the student is too lazy to pursue the matter. When accepted new students are overfilled with accomplishment when they are accepted. The fact of the matter is that all the schools here are private and will accept most students as long as you can pay.
Now, what should you do...that is up to you. But, if you choose a Caribbean Medical School make sure it has four things :
1. WHO listed
2. US clinical sites
3. Licensed grads
4. State Approval
Optional if you need them LOANS.
But, please don't come to this forum and disrespect my school...you maybe only in the 12th grade but please have some tact!

this is why everyone says to have a bachelors first..
cuz then you'll always have something to fall back on if your not cut out for med school, along with giving a stepping stone/foundation.. plus it DEFF allows you to grow up, get some self-realization, and mature enough to actually be able to handle grad school sufficiently!

your parents need to get some sense in their heads...if they want a doctor in the family, they should get you to work hard in UG and get into a Canadian med school.
the bigger question is do YOU want to be a doctor?
if you do, go finish an UG degree, word hard and be a competitive applicant for a Canadian school....
and with the way you approached the question on this forum, you are not ready for med school- go to undergrad and gain a bit more maturity...

You must be brown. My parents had the same train of thought (even though I did undergrad and I attempted US schools first) and I got stuck at a crap school (Windsor is much better than my old one). Don't get stuck. Try a Canadian/US school first. It's not worth the pain in your *** that will result. And finishing faster is not a guarantee.
