Hello everyone.
Just got my score: 264/99 :D

8 weeks preparation with full time job.

Read kaplan notes once.
Did 75% of UW qbank (46 q, unused, timed mode). Average score was 72% with last 15 tests being 74%.

NMBEs:
form 1 (6 weeks before): 590 (237)
form 3 (3 weeks before): 610 (241)
form 2 (1 week before): 730 (261)

My suggestion: qbank is the most important tool.. do as many questions as you can.

Thanks everybody. This forum has been very useful for preparation.

Good luck to you, all!

First, Congratulations on ur great score! Second, I would like to know what is ur opinion on what subjects or breakdown should i concentrate on most? I know that IM is main subject, but what about the rest? How would u breakdown CK interm of each subject important percentile? That way i can focus more my time on important subjects. Thanks

Thank you very much hunteradam07.

As you said, IM is heavily test and I would say cardio is the most prominent feature. Valvulopaties; CHF pathogenesis, diagnosis and management; and acute coranary snd management the most tested topics. I also had 2 audio on chest auscultation in pt with PDA and one with aortic stenosis. Second to that is probably gi (bleeding and obstruction + a good amount of hepatic and gallbladder cases) and then respiratory (lung infection, pulmonary thromboembolism).
I found ob/gyn and pediatrics to be pretty equally test probably around 20%. A lot of pregnancy, delivery and post delivery management.. probably more ob than gyn.
Psych is probably around 10-15% with a lot of withdrawal/intoxications and many mood and anxiety disorders. Mosty about diagnosis, sometimes side effect of medications especially sexual disfunction with SSRI and dystonia with anti-psychotics).
Surgery is not that difficult and is mostly related to gi.

I would say that 50% is about understanding the mechanism of the disease and make the most likely diagnosis. 30% is about first step in diagnosis and then 20% about treatment.

I had a good amount of really long clinical vignettes, with many potentially correct DDs. Sometimes you have just to pay attention to a detail you just skipped at first sight (like I have one case with a young lady that could have had a post-cocain cardiac problem, but then on the EKG there was a right axis deviation with deep S1.. going back she was on OCP.. it was pulmonary embolism.. first step is therefore LMWH).

Anyway, being honest, there is not really anypart that I would suggest to skip. But if you have to decide wich topics are more relevant... definitely cardio, gi, ob and pediatrics.

Hope this helps.
Good luck.
