What Percentage of Saba grads match somewhere (either in US or Canada) as soon as they graduate? (ie. no waiting period). Is there any official stats in this regard?
Thanks.

I would like to know as well! BUT, if you count the number of matches on SABA website, and divide it by the number of ppl in that class, you'd find the ratio. I was too lazy to count them last time I checked the website!

But how do we know all those people are current grads, couldn't they be previous year grads?

Yes, great question! What percentage of Saba grads match in one year? I don't think this would be found online -- is it even published?? Looking forward to this info if anyone has input.

In 2008, for the Canadians who applied only to the CARMs match the match rate was over 75% and the match rate was 93% for Canadians who applied to both the CARMs and ERAS (U.S.) matching systems.

One reason leading to success in Canada is their recognition by Nova Scotia.

Who the hell is Dr.B ...i just talked to SABA's Admissions Office. The 'recognition' is debatable, its best to contact Canadian alumni or admin at SABA>

unless that 75% = 4 applicants and 3 got matched.
it's certainly not like 80 applied and 60 matched ... but if it's a small number like 4, then it's very possible.

yes, they said 75% of the people who ONLY applied for canadian residency, and did not write the USMLE! I don't think many people would actually do that! So yes, most likely it's 3/4 and it does not mean anything...
Also, you have to work in rural areas after getting back to Canada + other things... please check out the link below:

stats can say anything you want..
if 4 people applied to the CaRM match and 3 got a spot, then its 75%--don't let that high number fool you --ask how MANY actually went through the canadian match and for what? And how many does that represent the # of canadians at saba--that is more telling.

Then after reading that article, read the Saba 2008 res match list and see the anastesiologists, urologists, and ob gyn's that are getting matched in canada (to just get started). I don't want to say that the guy in that site has no idea what he's talking about, but it does seem a bit outdated. And he comes off as so damn opinionated and pissed off about the situation, I would question the crediblility. Well, you can't deny facts, and the facts are that Saba is starting to get competitive residencies in Canada.
I personally know 6 Saba graduates trying to match in Canada for the last 2 years. Keep your options open and go to the USA.

That's Canadians who attended Saba and applied through CaRMS only, and got matched, 75%. The % is higher re: Canadians who attended Saba and did apply through both CaRMS and ERAS. For the first instance alone, it is very good.
