Cheapest Russian Med School

I would like to be informed about the cheapest tuition fee offering school in Russia that offers its MD in English for full 6 years. I know Russian med schools are generally controlling their foriegn admission procedure via the agents. But this question is open 2 all. Any agent that can offer cheap tuition fees for MD in english (6 Year program)? Or any student who is currently studying in one such university and would like to share?

Your comment would be highly appreciated by me and also by anyone who is if benefited from your answer.

I am a student of a Siberian State Medical University, Tomsk, Russia. I don't know if the tuition here is the cheapest in a couuntry, but compare to the US it is still pretty good -$1500 a semester. I took off for couple years, because I moved to US, but this year I'm coming back to Russia to finish my med school.
I , actually, really liked it back there - the city is nice, the university has a good facikieties and it is improving year after year. I don't know about the language part - it has never been an issue, because I'm fluent in both russian and english/

Nice to learn that Paris. So per year SSMU is gonna cost around three thousand USD probably. Tell me buddy do you live in hostels or privately share apartment with your frineds? Which ones better in your point of view.
Whats the cost of private apartments there per month? If u share with friends then the cost is reduced, isn't it. Generally why do people go to private apartments leaving hostels?

One more thing, can u please inform me with the names of the textbooks that are taught there in your uni of first year MD for anatomy and histology and medical biology? Please........I am in need of it.

If you want to go the cheapest med school in Russia.. or one of the cheapest.. then you should definitely avoid Moscow and St petersburg..
Obviously your goal is to save money or that you can not afford a high tuition fee.. Whether you find a ' cheap' school in Moscow or any major Russian city you should not neglect the cost of living... Moscow is outrageously high for what it is..

So if you are willing to sacrifice quality then you should definitely look for a provincial medical school...

as for the books.. any books would suffice.. it depends how motivated you are.. you sound very motivated as you have not started med school yet.. let me give you a piece of advice..
the key in a Russian med school is to REMAIN motivated during all those years..
As for Histology..Russian med schools are pretty weak in this subject and do not go in depth.. if you want to have a good knowledge of Histology, you should get a good atlas with it... My advice for Histology are the following:
- Histology from Junqueira.. very good explanation with great Histophysiology
- Wheater's functional Histology.. with great pictures and explanations..

those 2 books are MORE than enough..and trust me, you wont cover a third of what is found in those books.. I took histology at MMA (which is supposed to be the VERY best in Russia.. I beg to dispute that fact though) and it was very weakly taught..


As for Anatomy.. it gets more difficult to recommend a good book... I would divide it into 3 categories:
1- I call it ' pure anatomy' which describes the organs.. there location within the body, site of insertions...etc....
2-and one important topic (which is not taught at MMA..): CLINICAL ANATOMY..
3-Neuroanatomy

for 1, there is a great Russian book written in English.. pretty old..but hey.. well written I thought.. the author is ' PRIVES'.. it is a 2 book series.. and i thought it was good for those that never encountered anatomy... do not try to memorize the whole book.. but rather read, understand and vizualise what you are reading.. that must be accompanied with a nice Atlas.. I would recommend 2 books: Netter Atlas of anatomy.. the MUST HAVE BOOK...but you ll need PRIVES with !!
and the second one is a Gross anatomy book with actual pictures .. Idont remember the title..but the cover is the profile of a skull.. great book! that book saved me as in MMA, the anatomy Lab was more like a flea market than an anatomy lab... too large... crowded.. dirty.. noisy.. the cadavers were in the most terrible state that you could not recognize any organs !!..so i stayed home and read that book..
PFU has a great anatomy lab on the other hand.. smaller.. clean.. and when classes are over, you are welcome to work on cadavers to deepen your knowledge..and the profs there welcome that!

2- once you are done with this part.. you ll need to always refer to anatomy not as a pure science but as DOCTORS.. and therefore will need to learn clinical anatomy..what is it? well in brief.. if a ballerina tells you that she can not do any 'pointe' then you ll need to understand what nerve is damaged etc..
I d recommend SNELL clinical anatomy for medical students.. it has 2 books.. clinical anatomy and clinical neuroanatomy..


for ' medical biology'.. which is again poorly taught at MMA...I would not worry too much about it.. as the cell biology part is covered in the histology part..
you should concentrate on the CELL and molecular biology part..

there is some nice sites on the net which are more than enough and you wont need to buy a book for that...
