Charles uni- finance

Hi,

Is there anyone at Charles uni from UK? I am hopin to come there this Sept to study Dentistry, I need advice on sorting out the finance for the tuition fees. COuld someone tell me how u sorted it out, as in did u get a loan out from the local bank, loan company? If so how? Also which halls is the best there? Hope someone can get back to me

I don't think any of the UK students have taken loans except for the Irish students....i'll try and find out from my friends....and by halls do you mean halls of residence or dorms?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah that'll be great if u could find out as I asked the banks but they said they dont give loans for students that study out of UK so dont know where to go really. Yeah halls of residence. whats the dorms like? I've got my entry exam this weekend, hope I get in, it seems so competitive as only 24 dental students are accepted! How u findin it there?

Yeah the dental program is quite tough at Charles University...it's one of the best as many say that.....the halls of residence aren't all that great except for one of them...Kolej Komenskeho. However, there can be a bit too many distractions as most of the students living there are either American exchange or Erasmus students. I would suggest that you stay in the dorms for couple of months and then look for an apartment....as you can get some good, cheap apartments (this particular dorm is a bit expensive when compared to the others.) Also the dorms are quite far away from the university, so that can be very frustrating.

I'm liking it all right here. I just find the system here to subjective as compared to the medical schools in the States and I don't like that about most of the European schools. It's a lot of work but also lot of partying. And the univ. filled with british students (I think the dental has mostly british and greek students).
