I got my score. I couldn't believe it. 190/77 OMG! Would it really have been better to fail? I am so upset about this score. I honestly thought I did well on this exam. It should have been a happy moment, but my heart sunk. I keep thinking, will I ever become a Dr.? With this score will I ever get a residency? How did this happen? my nbme scores didn't predict my score. I can't blame anyone but myself, maybe I got to cocky. Could anyone offer some words of encouragement?
Thanks
ps. If I could I would totally retake it...I know I could have done better, Where did I go wrong?

You still passed, not the end of the world. You still have USMLE 2 to go, study harder for those and as you said, do not get cocky. Overconfidence can work against anyone, probably that happened to you, only you can answer that question.
There are people who have had similar scores and have landed residencies. That is why I say it is not the end of the world. What specialty you are looking for?
Good luck.

I've been told by PD's, the best way to offbalance a low Step 1 is to take the Step 2 as early as possible and REALLY nail it.
