Hey! I spent the whole day at the campus with my dad and it was great! Everyone was so nice and helpful with everything. Everyone appeared young (early 20s) except for these two guys who looked mid 30s but they were in their last semester on the island. There are a lot of students who are Indian but from Canada, which I found to be interesting.. (are u any of u guys Indian?) There also seems to be a lot more male students than females (75% males to 25% females at least)..not a big deal, just interesting. We sat in on first semester's histology lecture today which was good. It was pretty basic cell bio review (day 3 of classes and all...) and the professor was very nice and excited about teaching. Tomorrow I think we might sit in on anatomy (which i heard that professor is an *** from quite a few students here...) Every student we spoke to said that the professors are for the most part great, and that the only complaint is that the administration kind of sucks... As for the loan thing, I didnt talk to any admin. today (they were busy and my appt. is tomorrow) But none of the students seemed concerned about it, which makes me think maybe not that many loans are taken out? So yay Saba! =) And I was told by many students to try and get old notes from upper classmen, and to buy your books when u go there, because they were selling them today for 5-10$ per book!!! I met a guy from my town in north dakota who was awesome and a few other people including the girl I met at the airport and they all gave me their emails for any help etc that i might need:) Im excited to get to know everyone in our class, because each class is very close to each other here and you can tell they became really good friends thru the experience!
Ill let u know more tomorrow!

awesome to know... I was surprised about the age thing, as I thought I was going to be the youngest person at Saba (im 21 and a quarter ;) ).

Thanks for the constant reminder of the 'girl situation' as I like to call it. I guess it'll be less distractions at the end of the day.

Whats the male/female ratio for the goats? Are some of then single?

Hey Maggie, how many people are in the May class that you can tell so far?

Thanks

Hi,

I thought that I would let you know that there are 85 in 1st semester histology and about 90 in Anatomy

I think your assessment of age is a bit off. There are a few students in each class in their 40's and plenty of students in their 30's. I will agree with you on the fact that many look very young. But, looks don't always tell the truth. :)

The Assistant Dean is "admin" It is best to get all of your facts straight before posting.

She is only trying to be helpful to all students curious about Saba that haven't actually been there yet. Give her a break! Don't pretend like everything on this forum is factual or 100% accurate.
Thanks for your posts Margie! Most of us appreciate it even if your facts aren't "completely straight"! :)

I agree, some people on this forum really need to lighten up and get off their high horse. She obviously has no malicious intent and is just trying to help. Here's an idea, how about we stop attacking each other and start supporting each other instead... That is the point of this forum isn't it?

The sharper readers of Margie's otherwise good post noticed that, in effect, she said that as a member of "admin", the person who dropped everything to take her and her father around campus and made sure that as many students and profs as he could find would also stop what they were doing to visit with her, that that kind and helpful person "kinda sucks". That's what was being pointed out. I bet Margie had no intention of saying that about the Assistant Dean and someone pointed it out in a post. If you two think that's being mean and overly critical, I suggest you think it through a little more and realise that feedback can be a gift. It's a useful revelation for grownups and med students. ;)

Huh? I didn't get that out of the original post at all, but then I'm maybe not the sharpest crayon in the box...I thought she was relating other people's comments about administration in general. Something I don't know? Ah well.

Thanks for your post, Margie!

P.S. The assistant dean was great! =) Had a great chat with him about everything.

And by administration they meant it as the people running the show in gardner, not the faculty at the school.

Has anyone dropped from the class? If so, how many? Do you know why?
