Maybe I am looking too far into this question, but how does consuming a moderate amount of water push urine pH towards the alkaline end of the spectrum?

My guess would be by dilution of protons, at least compared to a hypovolemic state but that's just off the tip of my head, perhaps there is a better explanation...

UMmmmmm..
The ammonia(NH3 which deaminates for form urea) molecule reacts spontaneously with H2O to form ammonium and hydroxyl ions, which in turn alkalinizes urine by reducing hydrogen ion concentration.
