I was wondering as well, since I will be starting there in three weeks. PM is OK as well, thanks.

Seriously, if you have any respect for yourself or your medical education, do not do ANYTHING at Wyckoff. It is a PIT. It is a huge disgusting place where you will not learn ANYTHING. It is HORRIBLE, and it is known city wide for being one of the worst hospitals in the city. The teaching is garbage, etc.
People may reply saying "Oh OBGYN is good at Wyckoff." It's not, it's garbage. It's better than, say, Surgery at Wyckoff, that's only because surgery at wyckoff is three months of being a secretary.
Wyckoff is a completely horrible place that should be literally shut down, and no med school should be associated with that horrible piece of junk.
I'm not writing this out of anger. I am writing this as a favor to you.
EVERYONE who cares about themself and their education should avoid Wyckoff.

Well how can us newly matriculated student avoid it? Isn't our schedules for 3rd year Cores kind of "fixed"?

No fixed schedule. I did one of the supposedly better rotations at Wyckoff, and the number of students there is absurd. There is enough work for maybe a quarter of the number they take. And to compound wasting time, they schedule useless mandatory lectures in the afternoon.

The sense that I got after the meeting with Mr. T last semester was that they don't like wyckoff and are working to replace it. Mostly the only people there are people from the January class who need to go somewhere to try and make the match with the August class. They said they don't send hardly anyone to do IM or surgery there.

You should be able to choose any site you want (assuming that enough slots are available). If not, I would SERIOUSLY consider starting with Family Practice, or some other rotation until you can find a decent site to do your cores. Don't waste your time and money with Wyckoff. Even if you have to wait, choose someplace that you will be able to learn something. Yes, OB/Gyn, is supposedly "less bad" than some of the other rotations, but nothing there is good and you want to be a good doctor right??? Do not go to Wyckoff. Try Lutheran, Flushing, Staten Island, or try Baltimore, Michigan or Chicago if you can't get started on time in NY. The bottom line is do whatever it takes to make the most of your medical education. Your clinicals/electives are your ONLY exposure to real medicine before you go into residency so take it seriously.
(Side Note: We really need to make a Sticky about Wyckoff...)
