Core Shelf Exam

Does anyone know how the grading works on the core shelf exams? What is a "honor" grade?? Also, how quickly did you get the exam scores back?

I just took the internal medicine shelf and it came back in a little less than 2 weeks with 53 for mean and 77 for honors. I am not sure what the numbers actually mean; however, I have heard rumored that passing is 2 standard deviations below the mean.

The numbers change for every exam. About 3 weeks after you take the exam, you'll get an email stating what the minumum passing number was, what the honors number was, and what your number was. I don't know how the number correlate to how many questions you get right or anything like that, but they'll be different for every exam. It has something to do with the national average for that exam?
