Did I Pass or FAIL???

Hi Guys,

I am soooo confused. I got my grades today for first semester. In 4 out of 5 classes, my final grades were way above MPS and I got my corresponding letter grades. However, this is what is says for my Biochem grade:


Biochemistry & Genetics
Cumulative Grade 56.00
Letter Grade C


Final MPS for the biochem was 57. As you can see, my cumulative grade is below MPS but under the letter grade, it says I got a C??? So, did I pass or fail biochem?? If I failed, wouldn't I have an F or "fail" under the letter grade? Did the system make a mistake? I am sooo confused! Please help!!

Also, the promotions committee meets May 2 to determine final grades and so on. Do you think they would change my letter grade from a C to "fail"? How cruel would it be if I get an e-mail like "oh your letter grade was wrong. You actually failed." Has this situation ever happened to anyone before?

You're not the only one with a funky grade in biochem. Someone e-mailed me with a grade in the 60's and the letter grade was a B. So good luck and hopefully everything works out!

I'm also 1st semester and my grading was also funky (in a good way). Maybe it was due to the local scores (?). I think the grades are good. If anything, we can check on MyRoss under registrar once they post it to the unoff. transcript.

Yeah probably a exam center slip up (again). It would have been impossible for me to get an A in anatomy after I got back mini 3 scores...

Ok I would go with the cumulative grade. There was a discrepancy in my cumulative grade and my letter grade as well. It said I got a 68 in one of my classes yet my letter grade was an A. I asked Dr. Laville about it and she said the exam center goofs up some times...the 68 was correct - its a C. So I hate to break it to the original poster, but I think that he failed biochem. What he would want to do now, and how he would want to approach this is up to him. But I'm just sharing my own experience because it is relatively similar.

I thought I'd brought my Histo grade back up.
How do I know if there's a mistake or not?
Who do I call to make sure?

Best to check your grade with a grade calculator, you have all your mini scores, final exam score, and PBL, then if it doesn't add up, contact Dr. L, but calculate it yourself first. The syllabus gives you how much each exam is worth.

Is Dr. L in charge, even if the problem is Dev. & Micro Anat. and not Biochem? I'm not sure who I should write to...

You can try writing Dr.M, and see what she has to say, is it your final exam score that is in question?

Just look at your final cumulative grade number and the letter grade will be accordingly
