For KMCIC, as far as teaching styles and exam methods, how well does KMCIC prepare you for the USMLE's? It would help a lot.

Also, I have a few more questions about KMCIC.

1). Hostel situation, how does it work? Are there any more pictures of the hostels (inside) instead of Facebook?
2). What should we bring with us? (in terms of supplies, neccessaties, etc.)
3). For the USLME exam, is there guarantee that students will do very well (I heard students that come from foreign medical schools tend to get buried in this exam, is that true?)
4). Are the faculty different between KMCIC and KMC?

Answers to these questions would be very appreciated. Thanks again.

1) Hostels are OK....and that means how much you can adapt to India...but its safe, has back up power, and has wifi connectivity or cable connectivity for internet. If u r a guy u will probably will be in New AC hostel.
2)Bring 'packaged snacks' from canada or USA.......when I visited my relatives here at KMCIC, to check out the school, I brought tons of snickers, cereal bars etc etc.
3)There are only 4 students right now in the US who will sit for the USMLE...out of which I am in contact with one of them, he has postponed taking the steps, the reason he said was , that he found a BIG GAP between what he learned at KMCIC and what KAplan taught him. But the good news is that in MD1, they are using Kaplan notes ...Dr C[who spend some time at AUA], is trying to integrate Kaplan in this semester for Physiology.
4)Yes KMC has all the great ones....a majority of KMCIC students are taught by fresh MSc's from Manipal University. A few classes in Bio Chem are taken by Dr U, a few classes by Dr.C and Dr.R in Physio and for everything else who taught by MSc's...............KMCIC cannot be compared to AUA's quality....on a 10 point scale if AUA is 8, KMCIC is 3.5.......

Thanks for that response, but isn't AUA and KMCIC the same thing, just two different campuses? Or are you referring to KMC and KMCIC? Please clarify. Do you have that student's contact info so I can get in touch with him/her? That would be great if you can. Thanks.

...see thats where opinions differ.....and people with different opinions are all responsible people..

There is a core group of KMCICers ,who now beleive that KMCIC may lead to licensure problems. These students are all honest and hardworking Canadians and US citizens, who WANT in their heart of hearts for KMCIC to be 'all legit'.

There is Tipton, a stellar US marine, who cannot be sold or bought..meaning he is a good guy with a solid rep.But he beleives KMCIC is AUA's twin program.

We beleive he is in error. We beleive the management at AUA is not being honest with him and us.

You will note , none of my posts are abusive, and we dont want to create a scene. Why? Because we dont AUA or KMC or KMCIC to suffer, coz if they do, we suffer. And the other is in interests of self preservation...Dr. P is the most powerful educational capitalist of India, he has easy access to India's most power corridors.

Honest AUA or KMC are very. very good bets, but KMCIC as of now is 'unchartered territory', to put it mildly. Please read the other threads in this section, also pm a lot of seniors posters , who know about licensure...research is the key......good luck.

I did as much research as possible to answer as many of my questions as possible.

However, these are the last questions (that I posted on this thread) that remain before I make a move to Manipal. I am very well aware of the controversy that is appearing at KMCIC, but is there any proper evidence available to settle this?

I guess your best bet is to ask Mr. Tipton or any head person at Newyork's office

Does anybody have any pictures of how KMCIC facility looks? (not KMC)

I need to be clear about KMCIC. The current students that are discussing about the legality issue of KMCIC is mind-boggling. If someone can provide full information, that would be great. Thanks. =)

That would be very considerate. Thank you very much. =)

Some KMCIC pics here (in Facebook): KMCIC July 2008 (http://www.facebook.com/photo_search.php?page=2&oid=10271992395&aid=-1&auser=&view=all). KMCIC has it's own dedicated classrooms, labs, admin offices...etc. and of course shares common facilities with the rest of Manipal University.

Thanks Tipton, I did take a look at that those pictures some time ago. Also, can you please elaborate on those legal manners coolaid is referring to? I want to what is the current situation. In addition, I also want to know what about that student who experienced a gap between KMCIC and USLME Step-1. Supposedly, he had to take Kaplan courses to fill in those gaps? Please let me know about this as well. Thanks. After this, all should be all set.

I have elaborated at some length in a different thread regarding coolaid's misplaced concerns.

Some students take time off between 5th Semester and taking USMLE Step 1 if they feel they need more preparation. I think this was the "gap" you are referring to(?).

Yes, it is that thread I am referring to. Please let me know. Is this true? Also, is there any student who is nearing their final year at Manipal I can talk to? Thanks a lot.

The most advanced students are back here in the US preparing for Step 1. I don't have their contact info but I have seen a few on Facebook.

What question do you have regarding KMCIC's approvals?

Tipton, I wanted to know how competitive is KMCIC? What kind of students are being accepted and what is the quality of the education being given? Thanks.

Do you have any contact of students currently doing Pre-BSc?
How many students are currently in that track?
