Well this is interesting! I am a Ross student who finished 5th semester in April 2007. They gave me 1 year til April 2008 to sit for my test which i just did Friday. Anyways, 5 weeks ago, I got my payment booklet from my lender to start paying in MAY. I freaked and did what the lender told me to do, get a letter of enrollement from Ross. I requested that paper. One week later I called the registrars office to check the status and was told by a woman that everything was good and that it was on its way. Thinking that same thing, I thought nothing of it and let it go. 4 weeks later, today, i get a notice of payment schedule for MAY. I called my lender and said that they should have gotten the necessary paperwork to defer these payments. The lady said that there wasnt. SO, I called the REgistrars office at Ross. Proceeded to tell me that there was "confusion" and the account was placed on hold. Apparently because I hadnt been in school full time since last april....STUYDING FOR THE BOARDS IN THE ALLOTED TIME ROSS GAVE ME! So here was my arguement, 1) why wasnt I told this the FIRST time I called? 2) the week later when I called to check the status, why wasnt I told then?
3) if there was such "confusion" on my account, why wasnt I contacted???
So 2 weeks before my payment is due, this is what I get to deal with. I think that ROSS should be responsible. WHAT DO I DO?

Put your loan on forebearance and contact Ross again and let them know what is going on. They should be able to give you information on this. Why did it take you a year to take the boards. Is that typical for them. That is a long time.

I heard this happened before in the carribean schools. A disgruntled sgu student told me not to attend that school for that reason. Dont worry just put in your foreberance and you will be good to go.

I think the loan company will understand when you tell them that you are still a medical student. Why does it take so long to take the boards I don't get it. That is really a long time.

it doesnt take a year to "take the boards" it took me a year to get prepared for it. That includes family deaths, personal dilemmas ect....it has been a year for sure. Anyways, my point was that the school ensured me that "all was ok". Now why do they get to make such claims and then not stand by them....basically tell me GFUS. I am just annoyed. Can I hold them responsible?

family and personal drama aside did you ever read the fin aid papers you signed from the lender? the hell with ross they aren't the ones giving the money and setting the terms all they do is say you are a student or not. most lenders say you got a 6 month period from the time you stop being a student to pay, they give you a 12 month foreberrance option that can be used once then there are hardship and other deferements but seriously you need to put on some grown up pants and read what you sign and not rely on a clerk at a carib school and assume they know what they are talking about...hell 90% of the time you call the lender you get the wrong information what makes anyone think a school employee will get it right?

WHEN HANDLING YOUR BUISNESS

Always take names first, follow up with written documentation

then WHOOP A$$ later if warranted.

The fine print is the clencher with loans. Your enrollement must be clearly spelled out and if you owed me money and you weren't yet in a residency program or officially enrolled anywhere I would be sending you payament book too!

The default rate is to high and the US economy is at a crazy life threatening LOW!

The "clerk" probably just answered the actuall questioned you asked.
Her thinking is that she doesn't get paid to make an extra click, cross check another data base or look out for your best intrest. She's also probably tired of future docs rushing her as if their paper work is the only task she has to do that day. Remeber most admin folks in a cube or office deal with this all day, get PMS too, and feel th crunch of the economy faster than students.

Wrie some letters, document and get thee into some clinicals quick.
