Going back to island as alumnus

This thread is mostly aimed at fellow alumni, but current students feel free to chime in. Now that I am 6 years removed from the rock, I sometimes think about what it would be like to go back for a visit. I remember when I was student sometimes they would bring back students from the clinical sciences to talk with us and to encourage us. Though I appreciated it, I wondered why the hell they would want to come back down to that place.
But now I often wonder what it would be like. I do admit I would like to see the changes they have made to the infrastructure and it would be pretty nostalgic to see the place again. Of course we all know the trip is long and expensive. But I suppose I could always island hop while down there.
What are other people's thoughts? Would you go back?

planning on it, when i can get some time off. gator, if yoiu had come to work with me, that may have given me the time off. thanks alot! ;) i know pics i have seen are amazing at how much the place has advanced. plus, i gotta dive. i did 100s of dives between the rock and miami, now i am lucky to get 4 or 5 in a year. its sad that i soemtimes suit up and tell the wife i need to "inspect" the pool liner.

there is a CE and reunion coming up this June 19-22. This seems like the perfect opportunity to make the trip! You can sign up by gonig on the ross website and going to the Alumni page.

yea, i know about the CME thing. my problem is that i need somebody to cover shifts, and i dont have them. hard enough for may to get to DC for teh ACP conference.

I only left the island two years ago, never so happy to leave any place in my life. I already miss it. I am hoping that over the next 12 months that possible I can set up some kind of continueing education, you know like seminars or something, so I could go back and visit and use some of my CE money I am alotted to do it.
