anyone wanna write about their experiences at Lutheran? I heard their surgery rotation in great but I haven’t heard much about anything else. How's the neighborhood? If 50 of us start in August how do they decide who starts on what rotation? (for example, in august, will I start on med, psych, surg?)
Thanks!

in general the hospitals decide what order the students assigned to a hospital do their rotations. Some are flexible, some aren't- sorry don't know how Luthern is about that.

Is the surgery core at Lutheran greenbook (ACGME)?

Yes and No. Lutheran itself runs a DO surgery program, but Downstate sends a team of residents there every month, so you'll get the ACGME accrediation through Downstate, and not Lutheran.

Surgery is a good experience, variety of cases, trauma. Rough schedule but has gotten better since I did it.
Medicine is awesome there, I really enjoyed it. Great teaching. You meet with the medicine program director almost everyday for lectures just for students. He runs morning report everyday which is very educational. All the attendings are great and very good teachers, residents too.
OB/GYN- no comment, not the greatest, but it's gotten better since I did it...so I've heard
FP- hospital part sucks, clinic - pretty good, I got to do alot of H&Ps
Overall it's been my favorite hospital for rotations.
They really take care of their students.
