We dont have cadaver dissection as I think their is a law prohibiting having cadavers in Grand Cayman! But we have plastinated cadavers that are already dissected!

I was upset about this going into my 1st semester, but in all honesty, I am grateful for the way it is b/c with cadaver dissection, ur going to spend so much time finding structures and some of the times they are the wrong structures! This way all the structures are already dissected so it saves so much time and you exactly what u are looking at! (For example, We would have 2-3 different arms, one showing the muscles, another showing nerves and blood vessels, and the another showing bones)

Unless you interested in a field such as pathology (who direct autopsies) you will find the dissected cadavers to be helpful. I actually prefer the ones SMU has over having to dissect untouched cadavers myself b/c the latter will result in me damaging the specimen without gaining any knowledge from it.

Thanks for this information. Does anyone plan on going into surgery?

A lot of people want to go into surgery. If you're worreid about cadaver lab and it's correlation to surgery, don't worry because cutting on a dead body is nothing like cutting on a real one. You won't miss anything if that's what you're worried about.

I noticed some surgical programs provide cadaver dissection at their institutions if you match into their program.
