Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone else here has interviewed in charlotte and has some insights to how their interview was and what to expect. I have a general idea about the questions to expect but I am wondering more about the procedure and feedback from interviewing here.

Thanks!

I interviewed in CLT back on Feb 29th. I would assume you're meeting with K. She was incredibly friendly and helpful. Answered all my questions well. During the interview whenever I had trouble with certain things she would sum it up way better than I could and help me out. The building is a little hard to find (at least I thought so) so give yourself extra time. The only thing that bugged me was that her phone kept ringing in the middle of the interview and she was texting someone while I watched the video (but I guess she has to keep herself entertained after seeing it so many times anyway). She had read my file beforehand and had a pretty good general idea of who I was already. She asked the typical questions: Who are you? Tell me about your family. Favorite classes. What are your strengths? After going down my transcript (very thoroughly) asked about some weaker grades and why I didn't do amazing in them. Then MCAT. Discuss my clinical/volunteer experiences. I was in a fraternity in college so we chatted about that for a while. Asked about my study habits - how I prepare for exams and how I think I would adjust to the rigorous courseload of medical school. Discuss a time when I had to adapt to a very new environment. And she ended with a question about House MD (the TV show), basically what I thought about him and whether or not I could get along with him (apparently it's a popular question).

But yeah, overall it was very conversational...almost like a more intense "first date", if you will. She develops a lot of questions based on your file so just be prepared to explain a lot of stuff about extracurriculars, academics, the good bad and ugly. But anyway, I literally got my call back from her just after 2 weeks later with my acceptance, so they're usually pretty quick about it. Best of luck and I hope this helped. Don't be too nervous, it's pretty relaxed, just go with the flow.

great thank you so much this helps! I hope it goes well, mine is on the 24th. she seemed really nice on the phone. What kind of questions did you ask her? and also, did she ask you any of those controversial issue questions like assisted suicide and hmo's??

thanks again!

I mostly asked about living down on the island stuff to bring, housing, medical opportunities, the rotations and stuff like that. I don't really remember being asked much about controversial issues. But she did mention she didn't really care whether or not i knew much about medicine - hmo's, ppo's, etc. - she said that's stuff that we can learn about in the future and irrelevant at the moment (my impresion of what she said, not exact words). she was more concerned about why i chose medicine not so much what i knew about it.

That's so great that you got an interview in Charlotte! I'm from Charlotte, but I had to go all the way to New Jersey for mine. Good luck!

Do you happen to have the address for the building that the interview was in?

KA was supposed to send me an e-mail with confirmation and all that jazz this morning but I haven't gotten anything yet. I'm just trying to map-quest the place to see how long it will take me to get down there.

Thanks!

Yeah I'm an organizational freak and keep everything in my outlook calendar. The address is:

Wall Street Capital
4521 Sharon, Suite 145 (Devry)
Charlotte, NC 28211

You can also give her a ring if you get lost. It's near Southpark Mall I believe, it was kind of confusing finding the right building, I just remember there being lots of dark glass windows and it being a brick building...but that was back in Feb so the details are fuzzy. Hope that helps.
