I am a student at AUA just completing their pre-med program, and, quite frankly, I'm not so sure that I want to stay here. Obviously, the grass could be greener on the other side, so I want to find out what things are like over there.
1) What would you (honestly) say about the quality of instruction? Do they have a lot of instructors for whom English is a second language and whose grammar and pronunciation makes it hard to understand them (AUA is full of this ****--as if learning the material isn't hard enough, we also have to try to figure out what certain professors even mean when they're lecturing).
2) Crime: Whats it like? It is pretty bad here in Antigua, or at least is getting to be that way, several of my friends have had their houses robbed, one friend almost got carjacked and another guy I know got mugged and slashed with a knife. I don't like that. There are vagrants here who constantly harass people, and a couple of nights ago one of them threatened to stab me.
3) What kind of modern (American Style) conveniences are available in St. Kitts?
That pretty much sums it up...except for one thing (which is only a matter of curiosity):
I heard that there are a bunch of wild monkeys in St. Kitts. Is this true? (I like monkeys...sometimes)

Pretty much the same at Windsor.

I think that the crime rate is a lot less in St.Kitts....but if you look for trouble the you will get it.
3) What kind of modern (American Style) conveniences are available in St. Kitts?
Fast food, IGA (US style grocery store), Marriott Resort and Casino.
That pretty much sums it up...except for one thing (which is only a matter of curiosity):

Ok, where should I start?
Wild monkeys? yes, they are cute and always a pleasure to see them on the fences and waiting patiently for a gesture of good food. They do not bug either and are not of any threat.
I came from AUA, I need to take this off my vocab soon. I belong to WUSOM, and I am proud of it. NO mess no stress!
I am actually in Chicago/Carbondale doing my 5th, and it has been great and my fellows and friends are quite awesome as well.
Let me tell you about St Kitts, as I was In Antigua, and I used to say the same things to some students there. You need to be very careful, no matter where you are. Although St Kitts is peaceful, less crime, cleaner and less expensive to live in, and our ventures at night have been without any problem, and we have done all we could to stay away from derailing situations, such as those that are happening in Antigua, you must always remember that this is not US of A, and any other safer place on earth.
I was also born, raised and spent part of my youth in the Caribbean.
What you would not do in Brooklyn or Market Street in Newark ( Brick City), you don't want to do it anywhere in the Caribbean. The word is just to be careful and pay close attention to your entourage and play the I do not trust "zit" game with what you own. Fools of all tools are cruel, and they will do all to get at you. Here, carjack and other stuff, I did not see much of that. By the way, where can you possibly go with a car after you stole it in St Kitts? The Police officers on that Island do not play around, and they are all over the place. You will be amazed to see some nice booty girls at the beach, and after the party, you realize that you were hanging out with a 45 mm well packed, a police office or a soldier. Just to show you how cool the place is! And they will make sure you have a good time too. I hope this helps! This is a friendly Island, too, and I was quite pleased with the treatment I received when I was there. No harassment from the locals as well...they are not that type. Unless you look for it.
Modern conveniences are what the island has to offer and mostly all pleasurable goods that you would find in UK and back home, USA. From Hotels to restaurants, market, local stores and other facilities. Remember this is not home! You can't compare Las vegas with Marriot casino. But they do offer identical services, and the ATM there is just a buck for whatever you withdraw from your account or gift cards :D
Windsor has some great profs, and maybe one or two have an accent, maybe quite like mine after a few beer:) But they are not the type that you will need a translator to decipher what they are saying. Those guys are great and they know what they are teaching, too. I don't know how much greener you want to grass to be. But I am sure it is green enough to get me and many of my friends.
Just visit the island!
I wish you the best:)
Oops! I have exams tomorrow....

Hi
don't want to create another forum just wanted to add questions on this forums
I wanted to know some information about the library hours of operation, How is the class schedules for 1 semester students. If I want to buy a car or moppet for travelling around the island any car or moppets stores places that older students recommend so I can visit them. What about the gym I read some where that there is a gym at marriot hotel how far is it from school any idea about the monthly fee and hours of operation. Is the school open 24 hours like universities in North-America so that we can come in late night and study.
thanks

The library at the school is ok, but its not open 24 hours. Most of the students I know hang out at the coffeeshop at the Marriot because its open until 10 or 11 pm.The coffee is good, and not that expensive. Moppet is a bad idea. The locals are friendly, but not really good drivers and the roads are bad sometimes. Its safer to get a second hand car. Its easy to find one around 3000 to 4000 USD.Marriot has a nice gym, but theres a cheaper one in BirdRock and in town.

Hey guys, i had a couple of questions. I've went on the Windsor site and noticed they do not require Org Chem 1 and 2...just wanted to doubly make sure if that is true or not? Secondly, and please don't bombard me with hate posts for this...im new, i have a 3.4ish GPA, no mcat, 160 hours volunteering at UT Southwestern Cancer Center, and rec letters from doctors and employers. Can someone give me a vague idea of whether to apply or not?
