am a prospective student myself and would be interested to know too, but am guessing anywhere from 2-3 hrs after school and 5hrs on weekends should be adequate :)

paying attention in class is critical

(edit: by that i mean, paying attention will require less studying)

i have a hard time paying attention in histology because i find it boring. therefore its my weakest subject.

Advice well taken oasisman, so why do u find it boring? is the prof or just the material?

the prof is hilarious

its the material

in general, most people find histo boring. there are the select few that love histo in every class...

Since most of you put an average of 2-3 hrs a day, what time do y'all usually go to bed/sleep and what time do you wake up?

I know you guys are all trying to get a feel for what its going to be like here, but everyone has such different schedules and study habits. I know people that go to class, come home and sleep all afternoon then wake up at like 1 am to study all morning before class. I know other people who blow off class a lot to study during the day. I know people that study for 3 hours after school and thats it. I know people that nap after school, study for a few hours at night and are in bed by 12. You really are just going to have to see what works best for you. School is everyday from about 8am-3pm (depends on the term you're in). So you have to figure out if you're a morning person or better off studying at night.

I know its exciting and scary to move into a whole new place and have a whole new lifestyle, but it really is something you have to figure out on your own once you get here. You don't want to start comparing what you do to other people. Some people can study for 2 hours and get A's while other people can study for 8 hours and barely get C's. You really are just going to need to try things out once you get here and see what helps you the most. You will figure it out, I promise. Everyone gets into their own sort of routine. I know you will all do a great job once you get here and find what works for you. If I can do it, you all can.

are there a lot of study groups that students form themselves or do most just study on their own?

sarbear is right on cue

and again, its about the people

im in a group of 4
others study alone

though i think a lot of that depends on the subject
(ie. anatomy is a great group study, histo no so much)

as for schedule, my pals and i study after we get out of our last class (@3) till 5-6. then i go home and just chill and watch TV with my wife. hit the sack anywhere from 10-1, wake up at 7, and do it all over again :p

main thing is, try and keep up. you dont want to get behind... but like she said, once you find your routine youre good to go...

I think this has been answered somewhere before, but how late does the library or computer lab stay open?

there are 2 parts to the library. The actually library part closes at midnight during the week and 10pm on the weekends. However there is a downstairs study area that is open 24/7

Do a lot of people study often in the downstairs area?
