Hello all.

I have been out of chiropractic school now for about 4 years and I am in private practice by myself. I have a pretty stress free life. I only work 32 hours/week and I am making decent money.

The thing is that I would like to get into medicine to pursue OMT, PM&R or Orthopedics. It isnt an ego thing or really even a financial thing as I am doing fine right now. For me it is about the academics. I would really like to get into a teaching hospital and be able to do some research on manual medicine. I know this is never going to work out for me as a DC.

My dillema is that I owe about $100K in student loans and probably will not have them paid off for another 5 years and I would like to start school again asap. I talked to the same loan people I am currently with and they have told me that I owe too much to start another degree program.

What are my options?

I actually have lot of information for you, and many recommedation since one of my friend was chiro (went back to med school). However, I'm afraid my English is not up to your standard. Therefore, I could not give u any information on your current situation. Too bad i have some good and inexpensive medical schools recommendation too, But i can't tell you (Same reason as above). So sorry! Why worry about being a MD, Just be happy being DC with perfect English! Have fun at spinal screening!

Sincerely,

Hunter Adam, MD

If you go to a school that has federal loans you can get lending. You can max stan sub and unsub loans. Sallie mae also has private lending. Sell your practice, house, kidneys and make the move. I had 106K and made the move. But if you are happy doing Chiropractic keep at it. Grass might not be greener as you will have to work more hours.

There is federal loans available for the big 3- Ross, SGU, and AUC. I do not know about the other schools, but you should only consider those 3, or perhaps SABA, when choosing a caribean medical school.

I know some schools where tutions are less than 5 thousands/yr and living expenses are reasonable too. You might not even need student loans at all to make it. I did it, i didnt borrow any money for my med school education. I did a little calculation, and it was about 40G for all my medical school education. This even included 8 months rotation in US, which consumed most of my money :). But i never tell HVLA hw i did it, cuz my English is not up to his standard. So sorry.
