Yea so i e-mailed the US Admin and left a message with Lonna about transferring my acceptance and deposit to another semester and still no reply. What number should I have called or e-mail address is there for me to use? sorry this probably has been asked before but I am dying here, just got my wisdom teeth out.

My brother bought
1. BRS Physiology
2. Rapid Review Series Physiology
3. Physiology textbook by the same author from BRS Physiology.
He's trying to get Case Study of Physiology by the same author from 1 and 3.
lol oh dear. thats what im afraid of - getting myself nervous before classes even start. I want to keep my sanity before I reach the island. By the way, I'm coming from NY also =)

BRS path and physio, Behavioral science are great...and a must buy.
The only rapid review I would by is the Path...but that comes is more useful for the boards.

I advice you to call them because it's not possible that they may
answer everyone's email, so better call them to confirm your
matter with them.

Oh and when does everyone usually buy the Kaplan notes books? Do you study from them as you go along, or is it more effective to buy them 6 months before the USmle and just use First Aid and BRS books for now?

Use your 5 semesters to master the concepts...BRS is helpful in that.
First Aid and Kaplan are more for review after you have completed basic sciences. Use the Kaplan questions to master the material you learn in your basic sciences classes.
I recommend that you take the Kaplan live lecture course after your 5th semester if you can afford it.

High speed internet
Cable and Wireless -- 125 EC a month (takes long to get the connection --upto 2 weeks)
Cable -- 97 EC a month ( quick to get the connection - within 3 days usually)
Cable and Wireless a one time initial charge for the connection is around 225 EC (dont remember exact charges-- been so long)
Would suggest that you bring a linksys router --cheaper if you have the router

They have both cable and dsl... Most people go for dsl if they want to share it with their roommate... The school would put you in your apartment once you arrive... Just email them your arrival date and time...

I think your best bet would be call the St. Kitts Embassy Tel: (202)686-2636 . They told me that i dont need an Entry Visa. However, the lady i spoke to mentioned that I may need a temp residency visa and that all I needed is the Acceptance letter from Windsor.

so guys ive been here for 2 days! the housing situation is sooooooooooooooooooo effed up they wanted me to get a hotel room until my apt war "clean and ready" i STILL dont have an apt. THANK GOD i fortunately met a ross student at the airport, shes letting me stay with her!!!! till now i keep calling housing they say its not done yet well call u back. THEY NEVER CALL BACK!!
but.. again fortunately i met soooooo many AWESOME vet ross students., I LOVE THEM. soo much fun. theyve taken me everywhere. awesome support!
ive been out to the beach, godfathers, ziggys, sunset grill,..... love it all.
but when it comes to windsor.. unorganized & careless!! i woulda been stuck in a hotel room till they finally let me in my apt.
i have to carry all my luggage around everywhere i move basically ... and i feel soooooo uncomfortable and annoying because its not this nice girl's fault!
if things dont fix up FAST im soooo gonna look into other school. this is EXACTLY the type of stuff that turns away interested, excited students like me!!!!

Sorry to hear about your situation. When housing is included with the cost of tuition there is always a big demand. Have you asked other Windsor students about openings? That is how I got my room...I had to work my contacts for about a two day to get a room. I know it sucks but as you will find out the island is a bit slower than the US. Everyone takes their own sweet time...Remember St.Kitts = slow everything!
If you want to look for another school I think MUA, and UMHS are close. But, housing is extra and with tuition it's about double what Windsor charges. UMHS has no graduates or clinical sites...so MUA would be the only option...if I had to choose.
Little things will come up to distract you every now and then. Get your housing and do what ever it takes to get it out of the way. Even if it means taking someone else's room. (Kidding...ok just don't let them catch you) Do not get discouraged, focus on your mission ahead and stay positive. There are too many people with negative attitudes running around.
Good Luck...Keep up us posted.

MD2B2,
If opt out of the housing that windsor provides, you will save about $1500...1000 will be credit to you, and you will save $500 on dorm fee's...so for about 2000 you can find a studio...that only 500 more..its an option for your problem...claxton R. is a good option for studios or apartments...

hey i just have a quick question. my family moved to another city within the same state (from dallas, tx to houston) and i've only had the time to get the criminal check from houston. because of labor day and hurricane gustav, there's a lot of time delays and my flight is this friday. i have all the other stuff in order already (HIV, etc). when i get there can they do something about the visa or request the criminal check from there? (as far as im concerned i don't have a criminal background)

Go to the administration office, ask to speak to mr r (administrator) directly. he may be able to sort you out. sometimes, the housing problems arise because the landlords themselves may have a problem in fixing the apartments, like getting supplies etc. not all the stores are open on weekends. and like the previous posts said, in the islands, people take it nice and easy. I do understand you are uncomfortable though. I would be too in your situation. the good thing is, school starts sept 15, so hopefully, they have gotten you settled down before that day.

Hi Sweeti2,
YOU got in with by passing organic and physic mean that you smooth in long term. The requirement there is just the USMLE board, who imposed it. Another words, you may get stuck from not be able to take the board or further liscening. If I was you I would make sure I have those premed courses cover for my own shake. Two semesters for those in US is still cheaper than on the island nor get stuck at the end. Community college charge only around 40-50US (in 2007) per unit as compare to university around 200US/unit.
I have seen people who were admitted like you when they got to the island, the counselor put them back for their missing premed courses. You're still young, so just do your part then you'll save lots of time and trouble in the long run. Trust me. I could do my premed 2yr into 1yr... full loads... that was nothing...
So something for you to think about it!
Just make sure that you are there for MD1 and not Pre/med!! OK

hey =) thank you for your concern but i have the 60 credits required for licensing in NY - they only want the 60 credits, they don't look at the courses taken. Pre-med requirements are not even needed for the boards - Just the fact that you are in med school, and if outside the country, then ECFMG approved. The pre-med requirements are ONLY to get into med school. Like it says on the windsor website, its 1 yr of bio with lab and 1 yr of chem with lab which I have..and I also have orgo. I have a yr of math and a yr of english. All I am missing is physics with physics lab and that is not required by Windsor. I am definetly in for MD1 and not pre-med.
Once again, thank you for taking your time out to write this, it was very thoughtful..but I have thought this through. Thanks once again!! =)
Take care, and best of Luck!

Right now i don't have my keys, haven't been to the school, they were supposed to come pick us up but did not..it goes on. This can be all very frustrating if you let it get to you. I'm just hoping that by next week everyone would have settled in, so we can spend less time worrying about accommodations and registration..and more time working on becoming Doctors.

if you're MD1 you're going to miss the totally wack bbq we had last night and a few days of classes. its not a ridiculous amount, but it is gonna be quite a bit of info - nothing you wont be able to make up though. Hows your science background? MD1 students are currently taking 3 classes - Physiology, Embryology, and Anatomy. Like i said - its not a ridiculous amount of info so dont be too worried, but do know that you're gonna have to study hard core for the first couple of weeks to make up what you missed
lemme know if i can be of any help
I arrived here on September 1, 2008. Put me in some one else apartment for two days. Got my own apartment on third night. Had to clean everything up before unpacking my stuff, that took three days. Today I got my internet connection. Now I want to study as hard as I can and get out of this island as soon as possible. There are no Windsor students around me. I am close to RAM and about ten minute to the city. I will be much happy to my classmates. I am coming as MD 1.
Hi Dr. Ali 2012
I'm in MD1 as well, but I'm not on the island yet b/c of financial situation. I'll be on the island next Monday or Tues. I'm afraid of missing so much MD1 materials by the time I get to the island. Dr. Ali 2012, is this possible that you can email me all the lecture notes of MD1 so I can start studying at home. Please please let me know. Thank you very much!!!

Hi to all MD1 classmates,
I'm in MD1 this Sept sem. w/ you guys, but I'm not on the island yet due to financial situation. I''ll be there next Mon. or Tues and I'm afraid of missing too much lecture notes from MD1 classes. Could anyone of you please send me all the lecture notes (power points) to my email address, so I can start do some reading and studying while I'm still at home? I don't want to fall so behind....
THANK YOU SO SO VERY MUCH!!!
Since I'm a newbie so they didn't let me post my email address here. Could anyone of you please please let me know your.
Thanks!

Un-sticking the thread... If you are going to Windsor in 2009 than please use the Jan 2009 thread.
