You should start with what do you want from the medical school that you going to attend? There are many medical schools in PI and most of them are in Manila. Once you look through them, then i suggest you contact them directly and inquire about the NMAT plus other requirements. Some schools allow you to take the NMAT during your first year medical school, while others you have to take it prior to adminssion. There are many schools with very inexpensive tution. I recommend you check out these schools: UST, FEU, EU, St. Luke, St. Louis, De La Salle, and two med school in Cebu. As for Fatima, there are many many posted about it, some are pros and some are cons. I think they jz overcharge foreign for the same education compare to more prestige Universities like the one i mentioned above. As far as Fatima tution, it can range from 20G/yr to 7G/yr. It's depend on who you talk to i guess. Yea i know very confusing! I went to FEU, I had a good time and i thougth it was quality education. Keep this in mind, all PI med schools will not prep you for USMLE, you have to self study or take time off. PI medical school's cirriculum are not the same as US, Dont let anyone or any recuiter say so (Especially at Fatima). Do some homeworks before contacting the school, and ultimately you have to go there to check those school out in person. Only way u going to get the most accurate info. Good luck.

Hi Hunteradam07,
Thank-you for helping me, I really appreciate it! I am from toronto, Canada, do u know where I can write the NMAT? If you were to do it all over again, which med school in PI would you choose? How do I send my transcript to the school, do I first have it sent to the consulate in toronto first for them to authenticate?

Hmm I took my NMAT at the PI embassy in Los Angeles. I think u can contact them and ask about it, but i think it's best to contact the school yourself and ask them. I like FEU, but I think if you can get in any of these school (FEU, EU, UST, and St. Luke) you should be fine. Dont worry so much about the exact school, because they all have the same cirriculum. If you think about Fatima U which by far has the most foreignner class, then i would really recommend you to do your homework well. On top of that you should make a trip there and check it out in person. Dont take anyone words for it (even me :))! And start study your Kaplan USMLE step 1 books as soon as you start medical school, this will save you tons of time in the end. Good luck.

Hi HunterAdam07,
Thank-you again for helping me! Advice/recommendation coming from people who have done it before like you carries a lot of value to me. When you applied to FEU, did your transcript, letter of moral character etc get lost when you sent those to them by regular mail, because it's way in asia?

All i can say it this is one of the most important decision you will make, so do it carefully. Have u looked into Carribean Med schools? If u set on PI medical schools, then a visit should be warranted. Narrow down your choices by the time u decide to visit PI and visit each campus, take time to talk to admin, students, and faculties to get a sense of what is this school about? Are they all about money or do i actually get a good education here? Is there anything fishy going on? Some of my filam friends from Fatima told me that even though tution is 6-7g/yr on paper, but u will pay more due to the fact they pass less than 10% outright. This mean that u have to take remedial classes to pass=more tution for them. So u get what i mean. They wnt tell u this up front, you have to talk to students outside of the campus to get all this info. The students fear retribution from the Admin. Use this forum, there are lot of good info here about most topics. Once u got all ur info, then u can make ur decision much easier. Good luck

check St. Louis University in Baguio City where climate is the best...the temperature never gets hot...this the only cold spot in PI. You can take the NMAT in Chicago or NY I guess...if you are from Toronto.

They stopped giving NMAT in NY, only LA and Chicago. Chicago might be his best spot but they only do it once a year in the US (Oct. or Nov). I agree that Baguio has the best climate (SLU is an estbalished university).
