hi
question about 1st semester books. I am trying to buy my books from the smu online bookstore. there are so many review material and optional materials to buy. ..........very confusing:confused:
i am thinking about buying all the required books for the 1st semester and all the BRS that goes with each subject.

is it a good idea? students who are done with 1st semester already, please reply. i am one of the nerds who needs to have the main text books. so please suggest what else should i buy.

thanks in advance

sincerely,
nira

here is what you should get for the first semester.

Anatomy- Netters or Grays atlas, BRS anatomy
Embryo- DO NOT BUY THE REQUIRED TEXT, just use BRS Embryo
Histo- DO NOT BUY THE TEXT BOOK, use Dr. O's notes and BRS (helpfull for some not all chapters)
Patient doc- You will not need the Bates book, but i have been told you will need it for other semesters
Biostats- You can get the book or just use Dr. R notes.

Do waste your money buying all the required big texts. If you really want for anatomy get the Grays for students text. I have not opened my embryo book or the histo book and ive done quite well. Just relax first semester really isnt that hard at all.

I was told the same thing when last semester when I was in first semester.... and believe me..... you definitely don't need the Bates book for Pt-Dr II.

Your notes from Physiology, and if you could get some Path notes from upper semesters, that should do just fine ;)

But.... I did see some 3rd semester students taking some sort of vital taking exam for Pt-Dr.... so maybe Pt-Dr III will be different

yes we had a practical exam, but Dr. L is really good and explains things so well that you really do not need to read the book.
