I'm just wondering will the landlords allow "cats" for short-term visiting?
or
if anyone knows any landlord whom will allow animals in general, please PM me their contact info.
Thanks in advance:D
Not sure about the landlords. But I can tell you that to get animals over there can be pretty difficult. I have been on the phone/on-line/web searching for the best service and it can be really frustrating with the local air carriers. Animal Air can help assist, and sometimes they won't charge a fee. You will also want to make sure that the weather conditions i.e the temperature will be below 85 degrees F. from origin to St. Eustatius. Continental Airlines may be able to do more for you in that dept. but I have heard that American Airlines is very strict.

Thanks for the tips :")
I've been traveling with my pets for many times and as long as Air Canada does not change their policy, there might not be a problem for them to travel to St. Maarten(?).
What I'm not sure about is WinAir...
"Live Animals are not accepted (except for guide dogs which will ride in the cabin with their masters). Prior approval of Winair Reservations Department must be received prior to the acceptance of Live Animals."
:"(
but still, I need to know some landlords whom allowed animals :Q

Hey guys! Please DO NOT stress about getting your pets to Statia. I brought my little dog with me from Canada and the biggest hassle for me was getting her across the border from Canada to the US to get to the airport. That's the only time I had to even show here papers. Just make sure their vaccines are all up to date...and rabies is the most important one that they are worried about. also, you need to get a clearance to fly from your veterinarian which is no more than 14 days old. It was the first time I flew with my dog and I highly recommend getting some sort of medication just to calm them. Not anything harsh, but they will get worked up!! I fly with Continental and American Airlines and they both didn't give me any problems at all! However, if your dog is big and not small enough to be a carry-on, the dog must be microchipped! It's a new federal law I think is what the guy at American Airlines told me. When you book your ticket though you have to call the airline directly and let them know that you have a pet, because they can only allow so many on the flight. I think American is 7 on the plane at a time and Continental is one (I think!) As far as Winair goes, don't worry about them. As long as your polite, they don't say too much. One girl didn't even tell her she had a dog in her carry on case :) The one thing to consider though is that the animals on this island are not taken care of very well at all! Also, the vet is only on island every Thursday and things like fleas, ticks, parvo and all types of worms are pretty prevalent because of all the farm animals that just wander all over the place
It should not be that much of a hassle, true, if you are going at certain times of the year. Remember the temperature constraints though, because you will not be able to take them on the same flight as you if ANYWHERE on your travels it is projected to get 85F or above, and similarly 45F or below for that day. They will be grounded so to speak.
And for the sedatives I will more than likely use something as well. I have been recommended to try the DAP collar. Look it up, seems good enough. Or in my case I am going to get a low dose of the tranq. from my vet to see how it affects my dog before I go just to be sure he is comfortable.
as for WINAIR, I think you would be fine with a cat or small dog, but the larger breeds will require that you get a small charter unfortunately.
I will keep trying to help as much as I can as I am learning as the days go by.
And really big ditto on the free range dogs, cats, roosters, goats, and cows. Make sure that you have them vaccinated, and all of their heartworm/flea/tick meds in advance. If you can at all remember to avoid Puerto Rico on any travels back, please do!
p.s. Lets all hope that American gets their crap together and quits cancelling flights!!!!!
Bon Chance!
