I have an interview coming up for ross, and i'm already accepted to st.matthews, i was wondering what students at ross feel they would choose if they got accepted to both now that they've already started med school.. i've asked the same thing on the smu forum to get their advice however advice from ross students would be great as well! thanks
oh by the way, i wish to return to canada if possible when im done so i suppose the 50 state licensure isnt as big a deal for me as it may be for some others... any advice would be great!! thanks guys!

Going to St. Matthews may give you issues into getting licensed in all states. I believe some states will not license you from St. Matthews at all. If you want free reign to work at any state and have less limitations down the road, then Ross is of course the choice. If you are going to be an IM in NY, then you will probably be off the same either way. As I am already at Ross, I would pick it hands down over SMU. Just my thoughts

I'm about to graduate SGU. It was the only school that I applied to, but if I was to be rejected I'd go to Ross. The main reason is that both schools offer the best chance to obtain a residency of your choice and certain competitive residencies. Personally, I think that this reason should be the number one factor that a perspective applicant should use in choosing which caribbean school to go to or caribb vs DO. The tuition, living arrangements, outside activities are a distant second factor in choosing a school. Think about it, the main reason that you are going to school is to become a doctor. Wouldn't you want to have the best chance to get a residency of your choice. Yes, it will be hard and yes you might have to pay more. But who really cares. I know a few friends of mine went to Saba because they said that it cost a lot less and that was important for them. Then some of these same Saba applicants had less interviews and opportunities than some of the SGU and Ross counterparts while having better scores on Usmle. So, choose wisely.

I was accepted at both SMU and Ross. SMU looks to be a great school, but I had a very hard time with the financial aid department there, I actually was so excited about being accepted, I sent in my deposit, well, qualifying for private loans at SMU is very difficult and my parents were not going to co-sign for 250K, so I ended up having to defer and look to se how to finance SMU - alas, my deposit was lost. I waited a year and sent my application to Ross (my first choice) and was accepted. Things work out like that sometimes.
Both schools will get you to the final destination. Best of luck!
