For those in NYC doing clinicals, which areas of the city do you recommend living in to minimize commute to the various sites? Do you guys take public transit or do you need a car? I was looking at Riverdale...is that too far? (I've never been to NYC)
Thanks

Riverdale is in the Bronx, and yes it is a bit too far, plus you have to pay toll ($9) to get into Queens and Brooklyn where most of the hospitals are situated. I would recommend getting a place in Queens, probably in Jamaica or wherever you plan on doing most rotations.

Does one need a car for NYC clinicals? or is it just a useless expense?

Useless depending on where your rotations are. Some places (SJEH) are a long subway ride from most places where students live, but in general, subway and bus are entirely adequate. :-)
