Hi everyone -

Just seeking some much needed advice as to whether I should try to apply here for Sept 08 or Jan 09 entry...

Here's my stats:
3.0 cGPA / 2.8 sGPA with a Bachelors in Science, majored in Biology/PreMed and minor in Psychology. Since graduation in May of 07, I have also been taking courses at Harvard Extension school - all biology, to boost my GPA. I have not taken the MCAT (should I?) but have taken GRE's with a 1070 cumulative. I am currently working at Harvard Medical School doing cancer research, have tons of patient healthcare experience as a medical assistant and ER tech, and have shadowed doctors and am a volunteer at the Red Cross. Do you think I stand a solid chance at UMHS, or any other Caribbean medical school for that matter?

I would say you have a chance. Personally I would suggest you take the mcat...never know what you might score. Also makes you more competitive. However, if you can get into a US school, ALWAYS pick that as oppose to a Caribbean school. As for this school, considering Dr.Ross is behind it I def see a good future for UMHS. Good luck.
