I´m gonna vote the same way I vote every time. I will listen to the various candidates reggaeton and bachata songs, and carefully weigh their dancing skills on the television commercials. Then after listening to what my favorite pelotero says and taking into account the oh so important impact of the possible candidate on my illegal ventures and possible rum taxing aspirations, I will ultimetely decide on the candidate who gives me the most money on election day. Ya tu sabes.

I'm not quite into politics down here yet. Still trying to iron out my cultural/language shocks. From what I know though the top contenders are:
*) L-e-o.n.e-l (the current XO, Color is purple I believe, Don't know the quote maybe something like "Pa'lante que va!" which translates to "Forward ho!")
*MIguel ( I think his color is white. His quote is something like 'Your employee.')
* Amable Artisty (I think I would count him out though, he's famous for giving out rice and chickens, they tell me he has no chance. His quote is "The president of the poor," and the color is definitely red)
One more I know of would be Eduardo somebody (not sure about this one), but I haven't heard anything at all about him.
You'll likey see people parading around in their party's colors on the street with loud, loud music. If you know anything about the baseball culture down here, the political parades on the streets rival with baseball parades when their team wins. Beer, music, 20 people in the back of a pick up, and speakers strapped onto the top of cars blaring music through every pore. Generally its completely insane.
From asking around though most of the people I have talked to say they will vote for L-e-o.n.e-l (though the people I talk to probably do not represent all of the population). You might also do well to pick up a newspaper ('Hoy' would be a big one) as I see a lot of polls there. Some dispute the accuracy of them, but it is what it is, the D.R. : ).\

Your best bet would be Miguel from what I hear, made alot of money (infact something like all his fortune) from dirty/illegal ventures. Though the cleanliness of any canidate down here is questionable, from what my Dominican friends tell me they can't think of one recent person. Ya tu sabes.
edit: fixed a name...
