Transfers between any medical schools involve lots of 'administrative' work - we know what that means in Hungary.......

Hungary is working harder and harder to discourage transfer to transfer students. This is not a very good idea.

I would also suspect that schools wouldn't accept transfer applications from students who had initially been rejected from the programme?

well the reason i ask is cuz im just thinking, whether or not the clinical years are on par at szeged with semmelweis. i mean i know szeged is a good school and just as prestigious, also i hear the szeged is accepted in more states than semmelweis. But i wanted to ask if you think the level of education is better at semmelweis than szeged regarding treating people and whether or not many people would know english when i would need to treat them in 3rd year and up..... anyone have anything to say about this?

I did read between the lines when you asked about transfering from schools in Hungary - If I am not mistaken, you have a place at Szeged and are waiting on a relply from Semmelweis? But if you were rejected from Semmelweis you would considder doing preclinicals at Szeged and then applying as a transfer applicant to the clinical programme at Semmelweis?

i wasnt rejected. they just havent gotten back to me yet.. and i dont really want to transfer, i just want to know if szeged offers as good as a clinical program as semmelweis does... i mean if they are on par with each other, id rather go to a smaller city than live in budapest.. although it is a sick city, im not there to party ya know?..... but i mean if szeged cant offer the same experience as semmelweis does, then it kinda limits my options.... anything to say on that?

Interesting you brought up transferring..

I've heard of a couple cases in which people have transferred from Hungary to Poland.. But if I recall correctly. according to a few people on here, the reason that some transfer is because they can't handle it???

To add to your question.. Has anyone (US citizen) ever transferred to the states from Hungary?

the whole transfer process in hungary is straight forward. i transfered to semmelweis from debrecen (3rd yr). all i did was send them a copy of my transcript from debrecen and a few days later i received an email that i was accepted. i feel like i had pretty good grades though. i imagine it would be harder to transfer into semmelweis than the other hungarian schools.

I can only imagine going to school in Budapest, been there several times, beautifully gorgeous place.. that would be amazing going to school there, then again much more expensive living wise compared to Debrecen.. the much much smaller industrial town..

life is better compared to hungery.

How do you claim that. If you mean , that life is better , in a way , that you don't have to study as much as you would have to when you are in hungary , then you are right. But otherwise , living standard wise, i think , either Hungary is better or atleast the same as Romania. Besides, i know of few people that transfered frm Deb to Romania.... but they did tht cause they failed a few subjects, and Romania is flexible in tht matter. But they didnt transfer claiming, tht life is better there. It sure is cheaper though

i know for sure that deoec does not accept transfers from romania. academically, i don't think romania is on the same level as hungary.
