Hello to all my fellow classmates (MD1),
I am proud of our MD 1 batch. They have presevered through some tough course material, kept their noses on the final target (Step 1) and trudged forward like troopers. Congradulations and I am really proud to be associated with this group.
cheers,
best of luck with your upcoming exams

I am proud to hear positive remarks like this, unlike some people who has nothing to say than to soil a school name. it's good that you find your MD1 batch usefull and dependable, way to go:).

It is not the students who make the school. It is the support staff, instructors, and owners. The instructors are not well qualified. Only one has been liscensed to practice in the USA. Have any attended medical school in the USA? Doubtful.
Students are always, every semester, given a class with no instructor for the first month (or more). The claim is made that the coursework is made up, when the teacher finally appears. this is not possible. Full semester fees are charged. Xusom compensates their instructors by the month, not the class. So the owners reduce their overhead and short the students.

I have to disagree. It is the students who make the school, not the teachers, staff or admin.
Good students don't need anything but a source of material to learn with. They will learn in spite of handicaps or poor teachers. Good students learn by themselves or from/with other good students.
Poor or average students, on the other hand, need good teachers as they lack the capacity to learn by themselves.
I am not making an excuse for poor or absent teachers. I think that the prior post is simply dead wrong.

you want to be a doctor because...? you couldn't get into a US medical school but you like the allure of making money and being in a noble profession. Guess what son work. Work like you have never worked before. If you feel stupid than go home. This profession has no place for dummies.

This really happens? Why are all of you even attending this "school"? Transfer to somewhere better, there is no shortage of Caribbean schools that actually have full time faculty willing to teach you.

So are the professors good or not? Do they speak clearly or mumbled like many do? Is the material up to date, or do they teach material from 20 years ago back when they went to school? And are the professors on campus when you have a question to ask- or home in front of the TV collecting their salary.....?

That's what we like to hear and that's all that matters in the end.

The school is mediocre at best, really good and great are adjectives that should only be reserved for the big 4 or US schools. What really good school doesn't have a biochemistry teacher for the first month of classes?? As for the education, there are no statistics out there saying that completing the current curriculum (x) with gpa (y) will give you a good chance to pass step 1 on your first try. The school has no track record. Yes, hardwork and dedication should get you there, but if anything the best the school gives you is a ticket to sit for the exam. I'm not saying the school can't improve in the years to come, and hopefully with the new admin in place (they have only been here 3 months) it does, but currently it is far from those types of adjectives.

This applies to all the schools on valuemd. But when you read very negative posts, most ofthetime, they are from newbies; That should say something

We'll, let's keep a positive attitude and be prepared for everything. Every school has its pros and cons, Xavier is the same. Let's hope improvement is the only thing in store for this school from this point onwards.
