I belive there was a recent change in curriculum intergrating ICM into 4th semester, instead of 5th semester? And also it states that 5th semester is on St. Kitts and not in the US, this is not very clear. I know the location of 5th semester has not been set but will it be in the US for sure or on St. Kitts?

I must correct myself here about the location of the 5th semester. Though it is not stated clearly wheather it will be on the Island or in the US, I had mis interpretated this. I read this paragraph wrong :

Biological Basis of Clinical Medicine/USMLE Review 10 credits This course, in the final semester of the basic sciences curriculum, is designed to fully integrate the knowledge acquired in the various basic medical sciences and pre-clinical sciences during the first four semesters of study into a useful body of information that can be utilized to prepare the student to sit for licensure examinations (USMLE I). USMLE review also provides a solid framework upon which the clinical sciences can be constructed. Primary teaching will utilize a variety of visiting professors and medical professionals recruited from U.S. medical schools, in collaboration with UMHS faculty on St. Kitts, in order to provide an ongoing, fruitful review of the entire basic sciences curriculum."
The last line confused me when it said "on St. Kitts", this could mean that the faculty on St. Kitts will be flown to the US for 5th semester to teach for USMLE.

Thanks and sorry for the misinterpretation. I am sure UMHS officials can elaborate and clear all confusion and doubts.

The last line states: "Primary teaching will utilize a variety of visiting professors and medical professionals recruited from U.S. medical schools, in collaboration with UMHS faculty on St. Kitts, in order to provide an ongoing, fruitful review of the entire basic sciences curriculum."

The 5th semester will be held in the United States. At a minimum, the faculty who teach in the review portion will coordinate their teaching with the Basic Sciences Faculty (who happen to reside in St. Kitts). We also may bring the Basic Science faculty up to the US to do reviews of their material.

And before anyone asks, no, the contracts still have not been signed so I am not at liberty to say any more about the locations of the 5th semester other than to say that we are looking at the probablity of having it in multiple sites simultaneously. As soon as the contracts are signed, we will post that information on our website.

are the sites for the 5th semester on a us college campus or are they at rented hotel rooms or something cause if you looking for a space you could try Johnson C. Smith university in Charlotte NC they might have some space to rent or something like that.

Thank you for your suggestion.

To start, we are considering sites with which we have had some past affiliation. But we will, in all likelihood consider other locations as we grow.

Will Baltimore and or Miami be considered for the 5th semester program. It would be great to have those options as well.

I wonder if UMHS can set up some rotations in Cleveland/Akron, Ohio. Lot's of worldclass hospitals in N.E Ohio.

wayyyyyy too early in the game. The very first 5th semester class, which starts this fall in Maine only has around 6 students.

Plus.... they won't announce any other potential 5th semester sites until the ink on that contract is dry and permanent.

Gee! WSUCougar is taking over my job...and the scary part is that he is doing it pretty well. I may have to find another profession.

His information is accurate regarding clinical sites and Maine.
