Hi all,

I was just wondering if anybody could shed some light on the transfer situation. There are a lot of medical students studying in a foreign country and really this is more directed to those from the UK (please I do not want to be mean - Please feel free the answer to the read if you should now the answer.)

I want to know that If i finish my pre-clinicals in Prague is it possible to transfer back to the UK for clinicals. I have heard it is not possible to do so but I just wanted to find out if anybody had any concrete evidence or feedack.

I will start contacting the schools themselves but any advice posted would be great.

I know that transferring to another medical chool in Europe would be hard as the language barrier seems to be quite an imoprtant issue (I say seems because we are not that confident in Czech to speak fluently with the nationals when it comes to their lives on the line!)

If anybody has any information, I would appreciate it.

Thank you

Hi,

Well surely, in order for you to have a remote chance in transferring in any UK medical school you first need to meet their general entry requirements of the medical school, such as having AAA-AAB at A Levels.

You must have genuine special circumstances (with hard evidence) for needing to transfer in the UK. For example, if the student's 1st degree relative in the UK is terminally ill in a hospital and no one is able to look after him/her apart from that student, or that student's lone parent have suddenly died in the UK and your sibling/s are not able to look after themselves yet, etc. Them sort of drastic reasons.

UK Medical schools do not advertise about the possibility of transferring because of the differing curriculum to medical schools outside the UK. However, this has been successfully done before. Explain to each medical school the reason for why you want to transfer, then ask for the procedures that you need to follow.

Why do you want or need to transfer back to a UK medical school anyway?
